Had a breakthrough the other day. Called and talked to the state certifying official in Minnesota and told me that they were sending out to the school that have flight training programs to return info back to them for approval. Apparently it's catching on now and just so happens that the school that I was looking at going to was at the top of the list that they want to get approved. 5 months later finally some relief. :clap:

I'm curious when they will send out the 2010-2011 maximum rates and also see how many states/schools caught on. Next, Utah Valley Univ. and others need to get their online degree programs wired so affiliated VA approved flight training centers across the U.S. can offer the flight training. That would really help out ALOT more veterans.:beer:

I met with the Veterans Affairs rep at our local college. We are looking at getting the flight training approved as part of an Engineering Degree, not part of an Aviation program. This way the student gets an Engineering Degree and the flight training.
In general, the State Approving Agency (which is not part of the VA), must approve the course as part of the IHL curriculum, then the VA approves it. It looks like the Flight Training is treated as a "Lab Fee" for the academic courses.
If anybody like the idea of an Engineering Degree plus the Flight Training, let me know. We are looking for some initial students for this Fall.

Does any body know of a college flight program in Florida or Utah that you can use a bell 206 for training from private-instrument-comm-cfi in? I went on the bell helicopter website

and it said that their was a program offered to receive a degree from Utah Valley State College. Has any one been to this school for aviation?
The reason I'm looking into the bell is because it is turbine time, I already have my private fixed wing with just over 200 hours. I made it to the end of the ifr training but I didn't take my check ride or written because of finances getting in the way. I have 28 months left of entitlement of the post9/11 bill and If they are going to pay 62,000 a term with three terms in a year, I might as well take the most expensive training available to me.
I'm going to contact bell tomorrow and see what they have to say about using the post9/11 bill for training.

H.R. 950 seems to be stalled out, pending a vote in the House. I've done some searches but can't seem to find out when its up for a vote.
Anyone have some better info on this?
As for HR 950, I did a search on the AUSA website and checked through my legislation emails from the same organization. I have seen it in the recent past, but nothing new. I will continue to research...
I would like to locate a private pilot program covered under VA somewhere close to the Philly PA area? I orginally started on my private pilot a few years back via Oklahoma State University in Stillwater OK, but ran low on funds after 20 hours. I can recommend their program, but I'm on the East Coast now.
Why would a state as large as california have such a low total fees per term? according to this chart
