Max Airspeed at 10k feet

So the way I read 91.117 is that below 10k feet you must be at or below 250. What about AT 10K feet?

E Airspace

You don't have the speed limit until you're below 10,000 ft. So if ATC clears you down to 10,000 and you're doing 320, you'll keep doing 320 at 10,000. When they clear you down lower, say for example 7000 ft, you will slow down to 250 at 10,000 ft and then begin your descent to 7,000. They are expecting you to do this, so there's no need to tell them it might take you a minute to descend.

Airspace is mostly irrelevant here.

91.117 says "below 10,000 ft. msl" so at 10,000 ft. you can go as fast as you want. At 9,999 ft. one must be below 250 kt.

"Arrival, Southernjets 7-8 requesting high speed"

"High speed approved...."

WHOOSH! Seeing the German countryside the way the 8th Air Force did!

They really do that over there?

I've been saying for a long time that on go home leg flights should be given a status just below lifeguard. And 250 below 10 is waived.

We have it waived generally speaking (within reason at least), and it really isn't that much cooler than going 250....

good point... for some reason i was thinking B airspace... but even B above 10 you can go over 250

Oh sure. Just ask! Helps everyone out. Why waste your layover on a long, unnecessary initial?

The insane downwind in IAD needs that BAD.

In ATL they keep you high so you can haul ass for a while. But going into IAD you're down at 3-5k 25 mins before you finally land.

I still remember IOE, downwind abeam the numbers then "Delta blahbitty blah airport in site? cleared for the short approach!"

Crap, and it's a 757. I'm already screwed!

They're fun when you're comfortable with the plane. And most of their "short approaches" never really were all that short. Don't miss that place at all.

Call Rocketman! Wait, it's past midnight... That boy is in no condition to drive. NVM!

My sister lives up here, met up for some Shabu Shabu in Chinatown. Good stuff, but they didn't think it was very funny when I said "compliments to the chef" on the way out while patting myself on the back.

Was delicious though.

Ha! :) Even I get that! Eating Japanese food in Chinatown eh? I almost went for Thai in Chinatown in SFO then I thought, "Hmm, perhaps I'll get a sandwich" :)

My favorite place I've eaten in NYC is Bareburger. My sister took me to the one in Astoria. It was life changing and I'm not even much of a foodie. Since I ate there last summer two more have opened up in Manhattan. I wish they delivered to MD.

Some day our paths have to cross in NYC as I'm up here often. When you came back from AMS a week or so ago I was listening for you guys but heard nothing. I think I landed 3-4 mins ahead.

It's not 81 it's like 71 or something like that.

Next time I see your parents, I'll just ask them for your number! ha!
