Malaysia Airlines 777 missing

It did? Didn't it? :)

I told my neighbor that the people who are talking, for the most part, are just part of the "know nothing cottage industry" that sparks up whenever there's a news story like this. The people that would probably have a clue of the dynamics of the the possibilities of what may have happened, aren't saying jack.
Damn straight!

The lady at the hotel in BZN wouldn't leave me alone after my cappy told her we were pilots. I couldn't walk past the front desk without some stupid question. She used to be a NWA flight attendant and has 4 cats. Figures.

I'm sure she's working lots of overtime in order to give her cats a better life. :)

I met a Cathay 777 pilot at a BBQ last Sunday. I couldn't help myself. "So you know what everyone has been asking me all week?" He had a pretty interesting theory. But that is just it. NO ONE knows what happened. Likely NO ONE will. I've sailed the southern ocean below 50 deg lat S. There is NOTHING there. Its hard to wrap your mind around but after about 25 days of no TV, on a tiny sailboat with no refrigeration, flushing toilets or reliable 110V power I started to really open my mind to how much nothing there was. Once a merchant ship chanced course steamed right by us with guys waving on deck. They called us on channel 16 the marine equivalent of 121.5 and asked us all kinds of questions. We were the most interesting thing they had seen in a week. They were going 30knots and we were going 3 knots.

At this point this will just become a mystery unless there is some kind of incredible stroke of luck. Even if they find some debris they will never find the flight recorders due to the sea state of the southern ocean. I think it is great that we as humans in the 21st century have just gotten so absolutely humbled. The earth is a huge place and even the most modern airliner can just straight up disappear if the conditions are right. If I wanted to never be seen again I'd go to the southern ocean. The real end of the earth.

"Hi Sue. Yeah, mmm, mmm? Yeah, I heard. Terrible isnt it? All of those poor families. Yeah... I know. How does an airline jet just vanish? Well, my neighbor Doug here in Scottsdale is an airline pilot. He would probably know. Let me go ask him";)

If you ever do that, I'm going to be the guy that says, "Oh, you're going to Las Vegas for the weekend? You need cheap hotel accommodations and want to know where the loosest slots are? Call my friend Sean…" :) Ha!
