Malaysia Airlines 777 missing

Well, while I agree that the outrage is part of it (we do so love to be outraged!), there's also the fact that the MSM is, by all accounts I can find (er, from the MSM) where most people get their information. Which is, yes, starkly terrifying...but it does seem useful to know what ridiculous tripe they're swallowing now.

But if we assume that they people who constantly whine about the MSM here are clever enough to see the massive flaws in the journalism, then they would be clever enough to ignore the MSM and procure their news from other sources. Sources that don't rely endless speculation and meaningless emotional reactions.

Hell, I'm probably no more intelligent the average border collie, but even I figured out how to get news and current events from sources that weren't screaming conspiracies at me from the TV.

I just get tired of seeing the same pointless posts on here over and over again. They don't add any value to the dialogue and they perpetuate the drivel of the MSM by allowing it to continue existing.

The fallacy is that people believe that CNN is not providing adequate or respectable journalism, and yet they continue to pay attention to it. They don't have to. They really don't.

Bath salts, perhaps?

Fish is pretty good when not loaded with sodium for our decreased taste buds at higher altitudes. So they generally have a salty taste on the ground. Lol, often in economy class, a bit salty in the air, especially when the Chef punches that extra zero on the calculator (in his head).

Look up. That thing flashing by is the joke, which went right over your head.

I'm sure CNN will give you another equally juicy opportunity very soon. :p Give it another week and they'll be hinting at the possibility of aliens. Giorgio Tsoukalos already has his interview suit picked out.

Awesome point! Well you know what i mean. Not a joyous or joking type of awesome simply because of the possibilities that serious points displayed in that classic could be a reality. Fact that 200+ and a jetliner is missing is crazy. Its just wild.

We all still need to be sensitive to the fact families are hurting and not sure what happened to their loved ones. Great pain/burden out there. Media & Gov't running a circus.

Oh, what pisses me off more than anything about the media circus show is the fact that you know the families are following every little detail and on an emotional roller coaster I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Especially the pilots. IF they were to find the plane, CVR, and FDR, and find that the crash was anything other than pilot suicide, and I was the widow of the CA who had feds raid my house in my time of mourning, go thru all my husbands stuff, and announce to the world he was a mass murderer...there would be hell to pay on all levels. But, since its Malaysia, I bet there will be nothing she can do about it should that happen. Sad, very sad.

Yup, this accident was likely a lot of things but not pilot suicide and Im not just saying that because they were one of "us" Neither had a motive to intentionally put the thing into the water. Both seemed very content and happy with their lives. I get that the feds need to follow up with every possible scenario and lead but I truly believe they are wasting their time on these two pilots. I cant imagine what all of these families are having to deal with.

I don't blame the Malaysian authorities for checking out the houses of the pilots. You've got to do that as part of the investigation. What I do hate is the speculation on the part of the pundits, most of whom couldn't find their asses with both hands and a flashlight.

I also hate the nonsensical articles written by people who don't know what the hell they're talking about. I saw on LinkedIn someone talking about how black boxes should be in the cloud. There's some validity to this, because then in addition to the physical black boxes (which they should call orange boxes anyway) you've got some backup. But the clown acted like this wasn't possible.

Duh. It kind of is already. How else would there be satellite data? Malaysian Airlines opted to not pay for the data, and that's fine, but to act as if it's not out there?

Sure, they had to check the house. But those same authorities came out and said it WAS pilot suicide, in a real statement. That same day, they also said it was a bomb/terrorism. Releasing 2 of those "statements" in one day is pretty damn ridiculous for a government. Just wait for the facts, why they feel a need to feed people very likely false information I don't understand. Not at all.

It can be done, but it'd be expensive. Very.

I always love the plane I'm flying at the moment, well, after all, my life depends on it.

But, they're all great and all fun to fly.

Hell, the most fun I've had on an airplane was when I wasn't even flying it, just watching @DPApilot do his thing in the cockpit with a Heineken in my hand.

The 767 is still my baby, but at the end of the day, it was the "King of the 1980's" and unfortunately, we're in an environment where every integer percentage counts and planes and airline operations are designed by accountants so the varnish has kind of worn off and beautiful, elegant jets like 727-200's, DC-8 super-stretches and Constellations are far gone.
Still the coolest flight I've ever flown! At least if @CK fires me, I know you and @Kristie can recommend me for a flight attendant position!

Chinese reporting they've spotted a piece of debris via sat photos.... in the same area as the Aussies are searching

I saw an old buddy that I flew with on the 767 who is now on the 777.

The poor guy can't leave the house without being hassled about the crash.

Thats when Id start telling everyone it crash landed on the moon. That way, word would hopefully travel around that you are not a reliable source of information. ;)

It did? Didn't it? :)

I told my neighbor that the people who are talking, for the most part, are just part of the "know nothing cottage industry" that sparks up whenever there's a news story like this. The people that would probably have a clue of the dynamics of the the possibilities of what may have happened, aren't saying jack.
