Some highlights from orientation yesterday...
Expect a 20 min sales pitch from Wings Credit Union right off the bat, not sure what was up with that.
Jimmy Johns for lunch, not sure if that was a highlight or not.
Badges given on site, jumpseat home that day no problem. Out of class by 2pm.
"VERY VERY likely" that sims from now on will be in St. Louis. MSP is for recurrent and upgrade. They are currently moving another SIM from Florida to Dallas to be used as well. But either way, hotel paid for during sim.
Ipads are on property and will be using the Lido charts. Still working on choosing mount and location in cockpit, and how to transition current pilots.
When asked about staffing concerns in the future, CP recognized that as the quick upgrade and choose-your-base carrots fade away, that "higher pay, paid lodging in training, and signing bonuses might have to be implemented to attract qualified applicants"... take that for what its worth
Due to 117 rules, expect to give them an excel spread sheet of your last 365 days of flying, day by day with total hours, before first day of ground school. Might be something to work on now.
LAX will be biggest base, but with flow to start in March I believe, MSP DTW will have vacancy if you want them. Id rather stay warm.
Any other questions about the 1 day orientation for anyone coming up, let me know..
