Life at Compass

I find it funny that you think you know what good advice is as it relates to my or anyone else's situation. I'm not preaching to anyone. Just pointing out that everyone has different priorities.

Okay sounds good. I've flown with guys who have made that sacrifice and are now flying for the big boys with a way better QOL then Skywest ever offered them. The lifer mentality is not a bad choice either, but its definetly not a career choice.

Regional lifer with "good" QOL worked well for the old Memphis folk at Pinnacle right? Same with all those Comair people too. Oh, wait...that ended terribly for both. For once I completely agree with @jtrain609

Sorry. I disagree. QOL is everything to me. Speaking in absolutes is silly in any industry. The upgrade at home will be available soon enough. If not, oh well. I would do something else before choosing to be an absentee father. I laughed out loud at you thinking you know what is or is not a disservice to my family.
Good luck on the QOL front at Skywest then. Seems like that airline is really good at believing they can have better QOL than at a Major. More slots for other people though that actually want it so i'm happy.

After 8 years in the right seat at two regionals, I pretty much took the first upgrade (waited on extra bid to be based at home). After being at Comair and hearing a decent amount of guys complain about not being able to take a pay cut to go to the majors, I vowed not to be in that situation.

Upgrading won't necessarily get you out of the regional. Plenty of guys with PIC still have trouble getting calls. As an FO get involved in training or hiring, especially if you have 4-5k hours already. If you're a captain I recommend the same. I feel that is the one reason that led to me getting a call.

The only guys who intentionally bypass upgrade when they have the time and seniority to hold it at a regional are kids who have never seen a downturn. They think the good times will never stop and are sorely mistaken.
Disagree....

98% accurate though

I would suspect since the contract was technically expired for them Delta is using this as a shot across the bow as it seems CP has been struggling lately. Just a hunch. With that said those things were garbage.
The question was asked if this move was meant to put the fear of God in to CP from mother delta and it was vehemently denied but as I have gone on record before and will also do now, if an airline managers lips are moving, they're lying.

I wasn't able to catch the whole response to the question asked about SkyWest performance in LAX vs ours, but basically they made it sound like they run a much smaller operation out there than we do. I always thought they had a pretty big CRJ operation out west and now DL ERJs..

My understanding, from what I could hear, is that SKW was able to support the operation of the CRJ because they have a a large presence. Able to swap planes of the same size, etc to cover problems.

I bet you can't wait to hear the complaints from guys having to wait 6 to 8 months for upgrade classes to resume.

Me on @jtrain609's jumpseat...
