I couldn't phone in on the call, but I wonder if people addressed some of the concepts/details on the initial memo, and how it all offered very little to no actual explanations.
It was quoted that CPZ "...was a Midwest and east coast-based airline" :
Yes, we know we know...MSP MSP MSP...so many people love their MSP.
But "east coast based"? Nah. DTW, while "Detroit Mich-a-gan-o-waahhh eastern time zone and U must NO Dat", fell into that time zone-it wasn't an east coast "base". It was just another additional Midwest base. DTW, being closer to the east coast, did help support these seasonal changes, but like every season of flying-it will always be at DL's will of where they push the flying and to who.
There were many seasons that we had crews fly "focus city" work- the biggest ones that I've been a part of were the summer of DCA to FL routes and another large uptick of LGA flying that was after the DCA season.
We are certainly more west coast now since the initial LAX work that started up 3 years ago, which led to a base obviously......but trying to sell us on the "we were never a east coast focus", just seems kind of a cop out answer.
And streamlining the E170 fleet?
HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Really? That difficult from a technical standpoint? This is the only type of plane CPZ has ever been responsible for. EVER.
They are not trying to run multiple a/c types at one company (Like CRJ and Embraer operators do at others).
Its literally VARIANTS that we have. E170/E175/E175 EWT. That's it.
That would be like my last company moaning and groaning about operating the CRJ-100/200/700/900.....oh the horror.
If MX is having a hard time with the same kind of plane, that sounds like a whole other laundry list of questions.
What I would like to know is the actual contract conditions of these 6 planes.
Why or why not/metrics, or some actual hard explanation, that shows the reason they are leaving.
Was their a geographic fence in said contract? I don't know. But I remember times that the E-170 wasn't allowed into LAX due to its <76 seating capacity arrangement. Which later disappeared. Which meant the plane for the most part stayed in the Midwest, back to the first statements.....the planes have been there on the east coast/Midwest all along for the most part.
Do feel free to fill in the blanks for me everyone, I've been busy outside of work and may have missed these things.
