Life at Compass

I think these common courtesies just aren't known by the newer pilots in the group, back when I first started I may have left a garbage bag or 2 behind, but now I always clean my area of cups, papers, snack wrappers, water bottle etc, into the garbage bag, tied up and out of the airplane when I leave it, seatbelts somewhat crossed in my seat, and not left in a ridiculously high or low position for the next guy/gal to get in easily, making sure the bag strap by the CB panel isnt strapped to make it easier to get their bag in and out.... it really is the small things

All of this is excellent stuff.

The basic things like cleaning up trash should be self evident.

The crossing seatbelts, leaving seats forward and not keeping the bag strap all strapped up is pro-tip stuff. The small things really do make a huge difference.

At our old shop, @Adler used to carry an air mattress with him at all times. You never knew when a nap might strike.

Honestly, it's kinda annoying when the seats are forward and seatbelts crossed. Since I don't use a flight kit anymore I don't ever find myself needing to slide the seat forward. I don't get upset about any of it though. Most annoying is the seatbelts crossed, extended to max distance, and seat all the way down along with the armrests in the t-rex arm or stroke victim position. Nothing that can't be fixed in several seconds though.

How do you get your overnight bag behind the seat?

Seats all the way forward is annoying as all get out. Most of those seats have so much crap in the rails that it's a pain in the arse to get them to slide back.

I agree. I find it easier to get my kit bag (what of it there is, now days) in the hole with the seat back then all the way forward, it's a pain in the butt to slide it forward and over, and frankly perfectly possible to stow your bag on the captain side with it all the way back.

If we are talking about things that annoy us again, can we bring up all the people that insist on flying around with terrain up on the MFD on clear days...in the daylight...flying out of SMF?

Just reach down at the base of the rear of the seat and lift the yellow bar, then pull the seat back. That bar is what raises the actual pins from the seat tracks.

If someone can take an iPhone snap of that area of the back of the seat, I can point it out (tough to describe without it physically in front of you).
