Life at Compass

Hiring street captains is a preclusion to winning an RFP?

You learn something new every day on the incredible, edible Internet.
Dont know what made you think I said we can't win it because we aren't hiring street captains currently. Maybe you need to work on your reading comprehension skills. Maybe you'll be able to understand it this way.

Condition: The company is upgrading at full tilt. Current junior CA award is a December 2015 hire.

1. Does Compass win an RFP?

2. If yes, continue to line 4.

3. If no, end of procedure.

4. Does (or will) current pilot group have enough pilots that are qualified to upgrade in order to support new flying?

5. If yes, end of procedure.

6. If no, continue to line 7.

7. Consider hiring street captains.

------------ END OF PROCEDURE -------------

Let me get you up to speed here, since it seems you've never dealt with this before. I tended to think the same way until I watched this happen once or twice.

You said depending on timeline? It's 8-9 months of lead time. ExpressJet gets flying for United before the merger with Continental? The announcement happens in May, I'm recalled from furlough the following January.

Compass wins the bid for American aircraft? It's announced in April, give or take, and the first airplane showed up on property the following March.

Building airplanes takes time. Staffing airplanes takes time. Getting airplanes added to your air carrier certificate takes time.

Wow, this read exactly like I would expect a post to read from the "other" website.

Let me assure you, people will come out of the wood work, not even for a street captain position but a fast upgrade. As @jtrain609 mentioned, there's lead time that helps in this situation but what do I know.

Well there's your problem with your little "procedure" right there. We aren't. Look at the latest vacancy, they skipped a month, and means they will be not upgrading a month as well.

You might want to go back to lurking some more if within your first two posts you want to insult someone's reading comprehension skills...and of ALL the people you pick, you pick @jtrain609, the one person on the forum who has a piece of paper testifying to his reading comprehension skills...

I believe you are saying we aren't upgrading at full tilt. I could be wrong tho.

Vacancy 5-16, effective June, 12 upgrades.
Vacancy 6-16, effective June, 10 upgrades.
Vacancy 6-16 (alternates), effective June, 5 upgrades (I think).
Vacancy 7-16, effective July, 12 upgrades.
The remaining vacancies are not listed in 365 however flica shows 2 for August and one thats open for September (I believe September has 10 upgrades).

What month did I miss? Any info thats incorrect?

Didn't realize I couldn't call it like I saw it on this site. The gentlemen misread/interpreted what I typed then fired a shot across the bow. Perhaps I made it personal too quickly - perhaps. I guess I did fail to understand some individuals are sacred on an internet forum. Carry on.
