Life at Compass

No, it's not. As a crew member, you cannot be REQUIRED to contact the company on a day off. Number of hours of rest doesn't matter. Feel free to call if it happens to you if you'd like. It happened to me, I didn't call until the next day. They said OK.

Maybe I misread this but there is no requirement to call in when you're on recovery. You can be contacted up till 1500 the day prior to the trip being assigned

Splitting hairs. I'll leave it at this but anybody can handle it differently if they please. Per 117, you cannot be required to call in OR be contactable on a day off. On my days off, work calls go straight to voicemail, whether on recovery status or not.

You're supposed to be contactable on recovery. They are putting you on reserve essentially but you do NOT need to call them but if they call you you are obgligated to go fly as long as it's in the foot print of your original trip.

I saw you prowling the Eagles Nest yesterday, back and forth to the airplane not once but twice. 44C I believe. I was next door at 44D gnashing on salt and pepper cashews. You didn't look happy.

I can't remember what happened, but I was honestly thrilled for the last five days. My last two FO's have been total ballers, making my life a whole lot easier. This has pretty much been the most relaxing week at work even after doing an entire day of air cart starts with @Vyse and then almost missing a deadhead.

Yes and you should bid accordingly. If your class falls towards the last half of the month, you can easily snag 150 hours or so if you do it right.
I think I catch your drift . Should I be concerned that I'm showing only 39 hours of credit after they wiped half of my month off? Or will I just have to wait for next months payroll data to be published to verify?

Right, but you /aren't/ a reserve. And your day off the day before, is a day off that you are not contactable. So if they call you, you have no need to pick up... I certainly wouldn't pick up or self notify until the day I was supposed to be working. On that day on recovery, yes you are contactable, it makes sense there...(with a 10 hour callout to be 117 compliant, I would think?)

Hypothetically let's say you started a trip today going through Friday but you were put in recovery. You would be contactable today for a trip starting tomorrow, but not yesterday for a trip starting today. You shouldn't be getting called the day prior to what your original pairing was.

If you'd like to answer your phone, by all means, go for it. If you can find anyplace in the contract where it states that being put on recovery means that now are you are on reserve the day before, I'd love to see it. But alas, if you find it, (not there), that doesn't trump 117. It's clear. Crystal clear. A day off is a day off! No contact required in either direction. No calling nor answering requirement.

I believe that's normal. Now go pick up some open time before you go to upgrade, plus CBTs = profit. Just watch your payroll/time card when it publishes to make sure you get all your credit. Screen shot your original PBS award to help with keeping count.

Consider it handled, kind sir.
