Life at Compass

Had day trip bought out, and placed into "recovery". If I read the clear-as-mud-contract correctly, I call CS by 1500 the day prior, and if they have no flying for me, I'm released?

p.s. I met jtrain609!

More like you survived me, somehow.

That ain't legal under 117. There can be no required contact on a day off. So, however you want to handle it.

You don't have a "day off" when you're placed into recovery status. It is basically similar to being on long call reserve.

It is bogus that when you're bought off a trip, you're placed in recovery status instead of just off, but that's not how the contract apparently works.

It used to be that way then someone decided to start using it about a year and a half ago.

The day before you're trip is off and that's when you're suppose to contact them first. Not legal.

Am I pay protected for pairings removed from my schedule due to upgrade training?

Yes and you should bid accordingly. If your class falls towards the last half of the month, you can easily snag 150 hours or so if you do it right.

Its the 10th, no bid package email, no access to PBS.. Did i miss something?

Seems to be a monthly occurrence now. Not sure if it's just incompetence or them just not caring. All of these little things add up and are taking a toll on morale. It'll be interesting to see if we're able to flex a little muscle or simply bend over and take it.
If the company can't handle the same PBS that they've been using for years, it should really be fun when the new system rolls out :)

How many hours of rest between contact and trip or reserve start time? Yes, it's legal.
No, it's not. As a crew member, you cannot be REQUIRED to contact the company on a day off. Number of hours of rest doesn't matter. Feel free to call if it happens to you if you'd like. It happened to me, I didn't call until the next day. They said OK.
