Latest offer from FedEx management: We know it sucks here, we worked out an offer for you guys to go to PSA instead!

The House of Commons is better-run.
When I lived in the UK, I found it very sporting to respond to Brits' sharp criticisms of the US political system (this was in the mid-late '00s, so Bush hatred was at a fervor) by asking them how the House of Lords and House of Commons worked as a comparison.

Let's just say that dysfunctional political bodies and ignorant body politic are not exclusive to this side of the Atlantic.

Are you guys in the "What, we're going to need way more than two security guards" phase of MEC meetings? Any broken arms yet? Chest bumping? Not yet? :)
They might at the next one. Calling a short notice MEC meeting to oust the NC chair with an LEC that doesn’t have interim reps and another rep on a trip is just a bad look.

I get wanting to move quickly but this was a terrible way to do it.

Definitely more variety in flying up there. I'm SDF based and I do pretty much the same stuff every month.
I just looked through the whale bid package in SDF during my last trip. I like the shorter trips y’all have but it is monotonous. The Hawaii trips looked pretty cushy though.

Would be fine if it was pure Hawaii. ONT had lines like that back in the day. It seemed to me over the years that the senior lines I was always waiting to be able to hold got messed up cause they mixed the good with the bad too much. There was no such thing as a senior schedule anymore. I think my problem was I got spoiled back in the 72 days with LAS-PHX and BFI-YVR.

It’s still very much that way…it’s good sport to throw that still at them, but for the most part, people over there aren’t as eager to debate differences in political systems. “How long is your PM going to last this week?”

“Push to decertify ALPA at FedEx, request representation by SWAPA” would be a funny Onion headline.

I have to admit that sometimes I have looked at SWAPA's actions and communications to their pilot group with envy.

Management is going to recommend that FedEx ALPA take lessons in professionalism from their direct airline partners in the PSA MEC.
They would love that. Sign away a crap ton of stuff for a carrot that management can turn into a baby carrot at any moment. Of course, no pilot vote.

That is the current PSA MEC. Going to be fun to watch when PBS rears its ugly head. From what I have heard the PBS rules are horrible that they are negotiating.

The union has nothing to do with it....wake me up when everything has burned down and there's a contract to vote on.
Unfortunately, we are the union, and the union is us.

There are so many root cause threads to pull on the sweater that got us to where we are that it is impossible to really even isolate 2 or 3 that have collided at this time and point in space.

I'm hoping that this is simply a series of events that our pilot group will need to go through in order to get a union that actually is interested in fighting for a worthy contract, because the entity that delivered TA2023 had serious cancer that a lot of people weren't willing to admit.

The other possible alternatives are going to make this place miserable for the forseeable future.

I'm a proud union member. I work at our Operations Center in a role that some would consider 'management' but I wear an ALPA lanyard every day I'm in there.

That said, I cannot bring myself to bring myself to be in any working area of the union except maybe Safety. I'm impressed at how ALPA Safety and the company work together, but all the other shenanery is so immensely un-adult that I don't even want to try.

If you want a behind the scenes committee, look at communications. I enjoyed my time on that committee.
