Kansas City PEPC

The Official Kansas City FOL Thread... Everyone wants it...yet starting it is like being on the cover of Madden...something is bound to go wrong..plus this thread has been good to us...

you cant start a thread like that yet. if you do it will be lik 10+ pages of non-sense and speculation about when we will receive out FOL's. i say we stick with the One thread till we know we are gonna be gettin them because they told PUBNAT1 they would be receiving their FOL's quickly, and most of them are still sittin around waiting. just my opinion
 
I am in Kansas City writing from my hotel. Tomorow at 10 am is the big date. I hope things work out well and everything goes as pleasant as some of you have written here. Best of luck to everyone!
 
I got back from the MCI PEPC earlier this evening, on 11/19, after a 7am start time. The interview portion was awesome! I had the pleasure of chatting with Mr. Shannon, the ARR tower manager and 28 yr ATC vet. The entire event was big smiles all around and a very casual atmosphere. Out of all the standard questions, where are posted in this forum, I was only asked 3 of them all pretaining to my current job. The rest of the time myself and Mr. Shannon just chatted about each others' jobs/lives and it turned out that we are both pilots too which just added a lot more chit chat. Very cool guy! I was done in 50mins only because of all the off topic chatting and was the last guy in the room. The rest of the day was very organized except it seemed that a little communication was breaking down on the FAA's part as the day went on and more people were being worked into the process. The MMPI is the full version...all 567 questions! Have fun staring at the laptop screen for 1-2hrs and then trying to take a vision test..not fun as at least my eyes had not adjusted properly.

Final notes: I was out the door by 1:30pm. There was full size bottled water everywhere and snacks too...just have to ask! Also every staff member was extremely friendly and helpful!
 
Best of luck, guys. The butterflies in my stomach have, to the best of my belief, turned into small and medium sized birds.

You already know the interview questions if you read the thread at the top...there is no reason to be nervous. You'll get a TOL as long as you can carry a conversation.

I had the same exact experience with Mr. Shannon on the 17th, extremely nice guy. I left the interview feeling like they really just wanted to get to know us a little better, considering everything has pretty much been done via email thus far. The interview is really nothing to worry about.

The hearing test on the other hand...now thats another story, I think I'm still hearing the echoes of all those beeps in my head. After working around planes for four years I wondering if my hearing was still ok.

Oh and a big thank you to everyone who let me cut them in line at the end of the day. I made my flight with plenty of time to spare, evidently there's no such thing as 5 o clock traffic in Kansas City.

I too have worked around airplanes, but for 6.5 years, and found the hearing test to be dumb. I could hear the pc humming and people walk around in the hallway. I had to redo parts of the test, but I passed..hehe.
 
I finally got to the hotel after a long annoying trip to KC from NY. Anyone in town tonight wanna grab food later with me and LISRAREF?
 
I got my TOL today also. The interview process was really nothing to sweat...I was ready for all the answers from the questions provided on this site and the interviewer, Mr. Flowers, was a phenominally pleasant man. The whole thing took about 5.5 hours or so. The hearing and the psych questions were a little naggy but I think all went well. Just have to wait on the FOL now.

The interview isn't what worries me, it's the other 17,501 ways one can find themselves disqualified.

*edit* I think I just felt one of those Egrets Kcarp was talking about...

I can honestly say I wasn't really all that nervous about the PEPC... especially after it was over, there is nothing to be nervous about. I've had much worse interview sessions with Microsoft and DirecTV.

Just answer the questions somewhat intelligently and don't freak them out (like during vision when they ask what's on line 4 and saying you see an angry husband beating his wife and chopping up his kids and putting them in the freezer)... then after that just do what they tell you to do and answer whatever questions they ask you, it's really easy - just lots to do.

"Pee in here"
"Click True or False on these questions and let me know if you need help"
"Lay down and I am going to put these things all over your chest"
"Sit here"
"Click this jeopardy button when you hear something"

Then even if you do screw something up, they just send you home with a form to have a PROFESSIONAL fill out upon examination.

I literally just laughed so hard I cried.

Line 4 always gets me when I get to the freezer part... that poor family. Who writes those charts, anyway?
 
I just got home from KC after my 11/20 8 am appointment. I breezed through the PEPC is 4 hrs and 40 min. I interviewed with the facility manager at ZMP. He loves it there so no worries if you're headed there. The earliest they will have class dates for OTS en route will be March or April. It could be as late as next summer. They are going to try to form classes based on the facility you are assigned too. So all the people from your center should be in the same class together, or so I was told. If they request any additional information be sent to them then make sure you send it in as fast as you can. Just because we had our PEPC before the LA PEPC does not mean someone from LA PEPC gets a class date after you. Here's to the next few months together.
