Yeah she said the wait for ZFW for an OTS hire is about 18 months. Yikes. Assuming all clearences are in, and you are going to the same facility, she said you get class dates based on TOL date.

They are going to try to form classes based on the facility you are assigned too. So all the people from your center should be in the same class together, or so I was told. If they request any additional information be sent to them then make sure you send it in as fast as you can. Just because we had our PEPC before the LA PEPC does not mean someone from LA PEPC gets a class date after you. Here's to the next few months together.

You must've not seen my easy to read chart of how people who go to PEPCs sooner may not get a class sooner. Here it is for your viewing pleasure. (NOTE: These aren't actual class dates or accurate numbers on waiting lists, I made all of it up. For demonstration purposes only!)

Hey Boomer, are the "Class Dates by Type" fictional and made up as well, or is there an actual way of knowing the twisted logic of how the FAA Academy slots are organized? I just saw that your spreadsheet had listed only one TRACON start date on February 9th and was curious if that had any factual backing to it. Useful demonstration to prove a point otherwise.

You can go to the FAA Academy website, then look up the start dates for Terminal and En-Route Basics classes.

As to how they assign people to those classes is anyone's best guess. About the only thing that is known is that facilities are given x number of slots per class.
 
I figure this is as good of a time for my first post as any, now that I've actually had the pleasure of meeting some of you in person. The Nov. 17th KC PEPC was a relatively painless experience for me and my friend, who also went through the process. The FAA people were all INCREDIBLY nice and easy to talk to; a lot more so than I had initially anticipated. They all seemed like people that I would really enjoy working with/for; I just hope that I get the opportunity.

Were any of the other guys as surprised as I was about the number of hot prospective female ATCers? I figured it would be something of a sausage fest. I'd be lying if I said I didn't fall in love at LEAST 4 times...

All the letters and numbers all all made up, just is a demonstration. What we know is...

  • You are listed in order for your facility by TOL date.
  • Enroute generally has 3 facilities with slots in each class (I don't exactly how many but the size was just reduced)
  • Tower is a bit more random that enroute slots.
  • People in the entire national pool who have TOLs for August may start Academy BEFORE someone with a TOL in July due to the facility they are going to and when that facility has slots at the Academy and how many people for that facility are waiting for a class.
 
all done! finished the PEPC in record time...3hrs 43mins. quick and painless. word is that enroutes openings are march and april.

:yeahthat: Whenever my friends ask me how it went in KC, its about the first thing I mention.
 
Took 4 Hours....Not bad at all....... TOL finally in hand and now the waiting starts again :) ..... Now time for dinner with a bunch of people at Jack Stacks :)

Loved this hotel but decided not to walk. Just couldn't see myself making it up that steep hill on 9th and still coming out presentable on the other side.

That hotel was pretty nice. Don't try to get too complicated with the bartender though. His head might explode.

Someone please tell me the city is more lively on a Friday night. I was quite shocked at how dead the place was. I felt like I was on a movie set.
The "Power and Light District" is admittedly a cool place, but it's lacking any sort of human activity.
 
Didn’t get a chance to meet the bartender, but the waiter in the morning gave me free Texas toast to go (in about 5 min.) so he’s ok by me.

I had a hard time getting over the lack of people as well. The shuttle driver told me it was only because it was Sunday afternoon but come Monday…

Just got back from nov 21 KC Pepc. Over all it was great! Everyone seemed really cool (their jokes were actually fairly funny):laff: I got through everything in about 4 hours and got my TOL Yesss! I heard enrouters are looking at March but I am still holding our for a possible cancelation earlier!Over all I am glad it is done and looking forward to get on with training. My group was mostly guys but I was surprised by 1 or 2 attractive girls I saw.
To "infinity and beyond" or ahh training and beyond.
 
Finished the PEPC on the 20th...got back home today. Glad to have one more step in the process done! Hope all went well for the last bunch going today, and good luck to all w/ future OKC dates!

I feel pretty bad for the people at Dallas, but probably worse for all the people who applied for Pubnat 3,4,5 and 6. I hope they can find a way to speed the process up a bit.
