JetBlue hires violent felon as a pilot

Yes, I literally made an argument. It was a counter to your “if they served the time, they should then be okay to get hired into companies.”

I said that might hold water IF there was some uniform standards for convictions and sentencing across all 50 states. But you don’t, so the results vary. So, it all boils down to perceptions. You and I know the jury got it right for Kyle. But no one is gonna hire him.

Which is irrelevant, as it isn’t an employer’s concerns whether sentencing guidelines are consistent. The only thing that’s should matter is whether the sentence has been served.

I don’t think Kyle should have been there. I don’t think ANY of them should have been there. At least Kyle had some family/ties to Kenosha. But EVERY person he shot was in pure self defense. The jury got it right.

I’d have no problem working with NS or KR. But unlike slumdog’s dream world, it ain’t gonna happen.
As usual, you didn’t read my post.

I read it before replying.

But! But! Why are you judging a man who did his time in court and was found not guilty!

Just using slumdog’s logic.

And for the record, I think KR would make a good employee. As would Nick Sandman.

And there is no “philosophical wagontrain of ridiculousness” if a guy can do his job competently, safely.

What if Kyle decided to become a pilot? Got his certs/ratings, passed everything in flying colors first time through, excellent pilot, CFI, and his students praise his ability as a CFI.

Would YOU hire him? Show me on a doll where KR hurt you.

You wouldn’t hire him and you know it.

Sorry @SlumTodd_Millionaire , but you’re in La La land if you think employers aren’t considering past history, even after a guy has “done the time.”

No, calm your jets. It’s highly dependent.

Someone who has done time for theft, served their time (see how pronouns work?) and is apply for a job is one thing.

Here’s Brian David Mitchell who is your 17 year old daughter’s driving instructor and you’re about to leave on a trip during her first lesson.

Is it possible to use a little critical thinking without running off to Dailymail.co.URKEL to find your talking points?

Actually, ‘their’ was the correct use of that term.

No idea why Mitchell is being brought up. Yes, there is evil in the world. But here’s the difference…. He got life in prison and no chance of parole. But say he got 20 yrs and served 20 yrs and is now out. Guess what? I ain’t hiring him to babysit my kids…

Thankfully you aren’t and likely never will be in a position to hire anyone.

Affluenza is basically a new trendy word for narcissism with equal parts sociopathy. These types of disorders aren't typically able to be rehabilitated. Because first to seek genuine therapy you have to admit that you're wrong and are wanting to seek help. Sociopaths, narcissist and psychopaths would never voluntarily seek out therapy, maybe only if ordered to, say by a court, or to manipulate for power over their victim. Individuals with those disorders are never going to take responsibility for their actions. Never! They're always going to want to blame others. Also they would view accepting blame or help, as a weakness. And they never want to ever be viewed as weak. So yeah they would serve their mandated prison time, but their mindset would never change... for the better. Prison in fact would probably just help to make them better liars, criminals.

In the case of the affluenza kid. His parents were his enablers. They made excuses for his maladapitive behaviors probably his entire lie and it got him out of trouble, he never had to face the music for any of his offenses. Hell he broke probation and his mom gave him money and means to escape the law and the country where he was eventually caught. As an employer why would you want to hire someone like him? He/they would never want to do menial work, they would want, no expect and demand to be given preferential treatment like a management position, they're first day/week and a six figure salary to help appease they're egos. They would destroy order, they would be completely self-destructive.

I would think that the point of prison is more than just serving your time. But also being rehabilitated.

Que laughing emoji, right?

Which is hilarious, I use "their" to avoid using gender so certain assumptions won't be made.

Boom. Now you get the pronoun thing. Walked right into that one! :)

It was an appropriate use. Referring to a single person with they/them is the silliness. Like “They do not want to come here.” That should
imply a group of people.

I take that as a "Yes, I can see how they/their can be a civilized endeavor". Yower welcome.

So you're really going to self-destruct over something like this and not something completely valid. Like calling jet-A, gas and not fuel? Or calling engines motors???

But this is the hill that you want to die on?

Geez, man... priorities!

I have no idea whether the kid is a sociopath or not. An affluenza defense in court may just mean the lawyers found a clever way of defense.

Nope. I don’t partake in the liberal version of pronouns.

Hey now, don’t confuse liberalism with wokism. These woke nutcases who can’t tell the difference between genders are not liberals.

Wow, this thread is a roller-coaster…

This dude rolled up to his ex-fiancee’s house, cut her brake lines, and was in possession of KNIVES, ROPE, and a SHOVEL. Then, he forcibly entered her house and attacked her. What do you think he was intending to do?

The only reason he didn’t murder her is she managed to get away.

Sure, do your time, get out, find Jesus or whatever, and have a nice life. But there’s gonna be things you’ll never get to do. Probably things that involve NOT hurting people. Some actions have life-long consequences.

I can’t believe this is even a thing.
