JC Cyclists.

I pretty much ride the same ride all of the time, which is the park loop road in Acadia National Park. The loop itself is just shy of 20 miles, but I usually do two laps and a trip up Cadillac Mt, which is close to 45 miles and the climb has close to 1500' of elevation gain. The pavement is perfect, much of it is two lanes of one-way traffic, and you mostly have it to yourself the hours I ride. I could ride this same loop for the next 50 years and never tire of it. I have a good low traffic back road to do intervals right near my house, so I do that every other ride.

Here is the ride shot by someone else on YouTube. The video starts at the top of the mountain, but you get the idea (I usually start where the car makes its first right turn at the bottom of the mountain rd.)

Thats cool man, That mountain isn't steep but it looks like it would be a heck of a workout. I wish transporting bikes via airline was easier.

Thats awesome. Anybody know, or have experience, with using hard cases to transport bikes via the airlines. I like the review of the trico case and the price is right I just worry that my 61cm won't fit. Not looking to purchase one in the immediate future but hey, if we start doing group rides and I have to travel to various parts of the country I will need one. The Scicon hard cases look awesome and are probably the best but at 1200 a pop are super expensive.

30 minutes on the stationary tonight in the hotel, Now off to bed... Jtrain, Put some pics of your ride up man!

My ride ain't so much to look at. All stock except for the saddle and pedals, and no upgrades in the future most likely.

They are all worth looking at, even if it a beater, just means you have to pedal harder to get the same results, BETTER SHAPE FOR YOU! After a very inactive last year I am still considering myself out of shape, I can go pound out a 50 don't feel like I want to afterwards and can't do it as fast as I'd like. Everybody should post your rides if you have a camera. EvEN DOUG!

Used to ride a Specialized Allez 61cm. The frame was too big and killed my back. This is a 59cm and fits perfectly.

Really wanting to get out today, but the forecast is "Humid, mid-90's, Heat indext values 112 to 117." Not sure if I'm that dedicated.

Hilarious sounds and speed. You just saved me my annual trip there. Stuff looks still the same. Trees grew a bit, tho... :rotfl:

I went a few miles on the single track trails yesterday at about 2pm when the heat index was in that 110 range and the humidity was almost unbearable.

I feel you guys with the heat, When the temp is in the 70's I can ride for hours vs. not near that when it gets into the upper 90's. Its amazing how the heat can have such an effect on our bodies.

Hokay, here's the whip:

And Emily's ride:

My bike is stock except for a new saddle and a pair of Shimano PD-M520 pedals (mountain bike SPD's). Emily's bike is also stock except for she's got BB7 disc brakes, some new grips and a new saddle.

Then there is the place where all our money is really wrapped up, the ski collection:

That's both of our tele and alpine rigs.

Rear wheel is off due to a couple of broken spokes from last nights ride. Friggen potholes! think I am gonna use it as an reason to get a set of these..

My new ride has Mavic Ksyrium SL's for wheels. I am a big guy, 6'4" 220, and I am amazed at how non-existent the flex is on these wheels. I know a set is pretty spendy, but know that I know how they ride I think they are probably worth it.

Here is a better shot of the new ride along with a shot of the Cyclocross ride.

2010 Specialized TriCross Comp, Shimano 105, and Roval wheels

This Specialized is a great bike, in particular on our nearly 50 miles of smooth gravel carriage roads. It is no slouch on the road for what it is, but it is night and day between it and the Orbea. The 105 group has been great for the first 2000 miles, and it seems like an appropriate grade component for the conditions the bike is exposed to. The only issue I have with it right now is that I switched to some heavy Schwalbe Marathon tires for durability, but no kidding they added nearly 2lbs to the total weight!!! I need to find a good light tire to replace those, and keep the Marathons for when I really need them.

I know right...

I have a set on Bontrager xxxlites on the Madone and they freakin rock.

I like the bikes guys! Keep the shots and the rides and ands coming.

Here was my mountain bike:

Gary Fisher Marlin - 04.jpg

This thing...was not stock. I got rid of it to get the road bike (I couldn't afford, nor does it make sense for me at this point in my life to have more than one bike, though that will change one day). Changed up the following:

-Avid Juicy 5 brakes (160mm)
-Mavic 717 disc rims
-Kenda Nevegal's (2.1)
-WTB saddle
-Shimano PD-M520 pedals
-Rock Shox Recon Solo Air Fork (100mm)
-Ergon grips (LOVED THESE GRIPS)
-XT rear derailleur

All in all I loved this bike, but I couldn't stand the trails here in Michigan. They, are, horrible. Folks kept trying to tell me about how awesome the riding was here, and they have no idea what they're talking about. The riding here is horrible. One day, when I'm able to travel west again on a more regular basis, I'm going to go grab a 5" travel trail bike, and maybe a cross bike just to keep things interesting out here.

Until then, I guess I'm a roadie :)

Those are sweet guys. Brian is that your wife's bianchi in against the wall? How much does the 566 weigh?

Train notta thing wrong with that Speicalized. My dream mountainbike is the Trek Top Fuel. An XC bike does it all for me. I have never had a carbon mountaibike though so the carbon part still makes me nervous when I think of how much more of a beating the frame of a mountain bike takes compared to a road bike. I have never done any cross before either but thats mostly because there isn't any in TN.

When is comes to suspension FOX still takes the cake in my mind but in that last few years I am glad to see Rock SHOX getting high end again, back 10 years ago they went from being some of the best to the equiv. of a walmart brand, about the same time Mongoose sold out to Walmart.

What do you guys think of two ring vs three ring cranks for Mountain. Every bike I have ridden has had a 3 chain ring crank.
