Is AA Parking 757s?

I had an Anet moment today. I was just scrolling around and saw a AW Airways 320 painted in new AA livery but have not seen a single AA 757 or Maddog in the new paint. I know eventually they are phasing out the MDs but are they canning the 757s too?
 
The normal deal for a merger is, paint the other company's airplanes first because your airplanes already say the correct thing on them. That said, with the planned retirements of the MD88s and the 757s, they may not paint them at all.
 
Just about everyone is starting to take 757's to the desert. They are already being cut up. Shot, most of them are 30-40 years old. And from what I have been hearing, Delta is seeing the new 739 as a mistake.
 
Well, its a shame to see the 757 go. I guess I never really thought about it, but they have been around for quite awhile.
 
757s are on a gradual fleet replacement schedule. Right now the a321 will replace them. The ones that go to Europe are scheduled to last the longest I believe. The 7672 are all gone or nearly so, being replaced by the 102 seats a321T. USAirs 7672 remaining 10 will most likely be gone by the end of 2015 if not sooner.
 
I feel fortunate to have gotten to fly it. I found this on jetphotos.net... Me taking off in HNL in 2011:

It doesn't matter how many 757 drivers you ask about it. They all say the same thing. "Too much power and a great handling airplane".

It's just a very honest airplane. You feel comfortable from the very first takeoff.
 
It's true, and the A320 is next because of the webmaster here... He is an airplane killer!
Fact: he used to fly the 1900, now they're mainly used for cargo...
Fact: he then flew the 727/737, Boom, 727 is done...
Fact: he flew the MD 80, I hear he receives $10.00 for every one sent to the crusher...
Fact: he then flew the 757/767, 'nuff said!
Theory: if history is any indicator then the A330 is next

As far as the 737 is concerned it would appear that it's the only airliner he ever really liked, he's probably the one behind the decision to keep producing the thing. The rumor I heard is that he likes it so much that he plans to retire as a 737/3400 captain as it will be the only airplane Delta plans to use on international routes by that time.
 
I was recently in Roswell, NM for an overnight. Amongst other aircraft there are many AA MD-80s and B757s. Sad to see them parked there :(
 
Yes, according to forecasted schedule data (which is subject to change) ... also looking like M80s taking over for M83s this quarter.

I was under the impression that the Airways A320's that were being painted now were the ones in the Star Alliance livery because of the whole change to One World.

Those were just the first ones that HAD to be painted because of the switch to oneworld. They had to be out of Star paint by 3/30/14. They also painted a West 319. I'm not aware of any others, yet.

I'm still heavily torn on putting in a bid for the 767 (757/767). I'm holding a block on the Airbus, but I want a chance to fly both of them before they're gone. It would mean going back to Reserve on the 767.
 
So if the 757 is superior to the 737, why are the 757s being parked, and the crews are flying home from parking those planes on new 737s?
