Why don't the make a new or ammended DP, with an immediate left or right turn to a heading. In order to avoid Bankers Hill, when departing 09?

No idea. You'd have to talk to the folks who are more familiar with the criteria for how that all works. There's a decent amount of stuff to hit off that runway in most directions.

You still have to clear the hill with a left turn and by the time you'd clear the wingtip to turn you're going to be between the buildings, or the path of the turn would take you pretty close if not right through them. A right turn would overfly downtown and then Coronado and I'm not sure how the Navy or the rich folks would feel about that. A left turn and your essentially doing one of the published departures anyway.

I think that's the one, I've only gone off of 9 there a couple times.

I was recently in Roswell, NM for an overnight. Amongst other aircraft there are many AA MD-80s and B757s. Sad to see them parked there

I spent a week there one night.
