Is AA Parking 757s?

1) Not sure.

2) The same. The just usually use more, descriptive words.

1) A quick use of the Google machine shows that worst case it pays the same in the US as the other 737s (which in my mind makes no Damn sense). In one case, it even pays more. #MMMTO

2) The(y) who

The truth is that there is no replacement for the 757. The 320 Airbus nor the 737 can't touch the 757 performance wise. There will never be another 57 unless someone at Boeing gets the bright idea of building another 57............

I think if the need is strong, they will create something. In the meantime, the freight issue on 739s might be a problem considering how much the airlines make on freight. If DL is keeping the Maddogs around and upgrading the avionics, they might as well hang on to the 757 and stop ordering 739s.

The normal deal for a merger is, paint the other company's airplanes first because your airplanes already say the correct thing on them. That said, with the planned retirements of the MD88s and the 757s, they may not paint them at all.
Incorrect.
There are definitely MD80 and 757 aircraft getting the new paint job.

People do not realize that AAs NEWest MD80 is younger than their oldesst 737NG. It was a TWA bird, last off the line in 1999. THey started receiving their 737s in 97ish.

But you are correct in your statement about paint the other guys planes first.

Why repaint what is being replaced? Even if there is a Mad Dog younger than one of the 737s, that doesn't mean it's going to stick around. AA wants to get rid of them.

I don't make the decisions. Just going by what my family memebrs say. Dad is retiring from the Tulsa MX ops center, brother is on year 3.

From what I understand, painting is part of the maintenance of an aircraft. So even if you have an a/c that you think will be gone in 2-3 years, it may be necessary to complete a painting. Of course I could be 100% wrong lol.

@H46Bubba can probably talk more about that aspect of it.

Plus, doesn't the extended length of the 739s (along with the amount of under-poweredness) increase the likelihood of tail strikes?

Paint is part of the maintenance cycle of an aircraft. The condition of the paint on an aircraft is always evaluated. Every time an aircraft comes in for a check, it will usually have a few areas will get a touch up. We've already been bringing the first aircraft that were painted in the new livery, in to be striped and repainted. So the life span of a paint job at Southernjets is around 4-5 years.

You know that you'd rather be flying the 75, rather than the 73!
I'mma post this just to make you mad.

(E: yes, two different Tu-214 developments)

When D. Parker spoke to us at the flight academy last month he was asked by a fellow 75/76 driver about the fleet future. It will last at least until 2020 and the fleet will probably dwindle to around 21 frames to do the flying the airbus can't fill ( hot/high ie la paz/ Quito s. America etc)

He said his management team along with him visited boeing recently and let them know how interested we are in a true 75 replacement. Their response Was they are working on it and it's years off. They are trying to push the 78-8 in the meantime.

I have also heard the fleet will be getting reprinted late summer/ fall timeframe fwiw.
