Is AA Parking 757s?

Well, FWIW, even though I'm going to get hate mail from the 757 fan club, just got off a transcon red eye out of SAN....in the 737-900ER. Even though some on here think we would need a fuel stop in LAS to make it, we had an alternate, took 42,000 lbs of fuel (which is about 7 hours in the -900ER) AND we could have taken a full load of pax with their bags.

Only thing we had to do was a bleeds off takeoff.

So why the 737-900ER haterade?

I only said tech stops while taking off East...Or at least that's what I saw with it at 35C and winds from about 030 @20.

From the nerd alert view I'm just worried about tail strikes with that thing. I've seen almost 3 happen and as much as some think I'm not out there every day watching. This is Boeing pilots almost doing it as well.

Of course the -900ER has it's issues (this being one of them). But it's a fine platform for the most part.

You can always tell who is a 757 pilot as they will tell you how great the plane is within 30 seconds of discussion.

:)

That wouldn't be my experience.

It's fun, but the only place I see people with a "ZOMG D00D LOOKIT THE NEW HOT WHEELS CARS!" is on my own forum.

Cash that check.

Taking off on 9 when it was hot required almost everyone going East of the rockies to stop.

What's so "special" about runway 09?

Also just a guess but the 757 was built for hot and high airports. So it would/should I think be able to perform pretty well off 09 when hot and not require a tech stop.

Agreed. Most of the 757 fanboi-ism comes from people who haven't flown it. I much prefer the 767, personally.
