Infected on the 8th, symptoms on the 10th and in intensive care on the 12th.

He was 33. We don't know his medical history, but if the disease is that severe and moves that quickly (which is against everything we've previously been told), then he either had a pre-existing condition or we'll see hundreds of thousands dead, and even worse, I'll be wrong. It's a cold.

They have some isolation protocols in place. He sent me a lot more photos than just those 2.

3M plastic and Lysol. Separate with some of the same protocols they would use in a hospital or other location with a patient exhibiting symptoms.

Seriously guys, I’m not saying this is 0 risk but the people acting like this is even close to on par with the scary scary bugs out there need to recoil a bit.

TBH, I have to fly across the country in a couple weeks in the cattle section, not exactly looking forward to that either.

Seriously. You guys are way way overstating the precautionary requirement.

That’s not just me, that’s the docs they were carrying on board. You know the dudes who work with all the scary bugs not just this one.

Either your article is wrong and it really impacts nothing to them because who really checks that level of detail or my friend is lying and also a fugitive from justice but has the time to joke around on Facebook messenger. I wonder which is more likely.

Now he did say Wuhan was a ghost town, but when your central government condones civil authorities beating people for leaving their homes that’ll have a tendency to lower your street and pedestrian traffic.

So, I haven't been in China in over a month. I was in Hong Kong a few days ago. The captain I just flew with commercialed back to Detroit. He just called me and told me he was escorted off the plane by guys in contamination suits and interrogated about China, locations, people he's been in contact with, etc. He's definitely not the bragging type or would announce something stupid to people about what he does, so he doesn't even know how they knew he was in HKG or China.

There has been no confirmation we've had crews quarantined in Omaha, but it's being discussed. The article does say it happened, but I haven't heard either way with that crew.

Just because one crew didn't get quarantined, doesn't mean other crews aren't being interrogated or possibly quarantined. We didn't even do any of those flights, and apparently we're getting heavily looked at. I'll find out if I'm on some special list tomorrow when I go back to the US.

It's almost like anecdotes do not make data.... it's almost like this Lawman fellow has no idea what he's talking about and relies on information sources that confirm what he already believes, or maybe he is so intent on being right that any uncertainty or conflicting information is ignored because he's already sure of his opinion and would rather be "right" than correct.

I wonder if that informs his political beliefs?

You have US government officials from State and CDC operating on a contract flight conducting high visibility actions in a country that is attempting to control everything about the situation. You worked in Russia how long and you’re surprised the Chinese are watching the Americans or that our government is conducting back briefs to gain intel on what’s going on over there?

Again, nobody has been or is being quarantined. You keep implying or tip toeing around that it happened or is gonna but it hasn’t. But both your buddy and mine from the same company apparently haven’t been quarantined. But hey there have been stories so it must be true.

Yeah it’s weird how we have both personally known somebody conducting these evacuation flights, and neither guys have had to fly in negative pressure environments or subject themselves to quarantine.

Despite the idea something like that would be necessary and since the media implied/reported it that must be happening.

Well let’s see...

The beginning of this thread was an open ended “would you” with some going completely into hysteria on the threat this virus carries.

Then you have me saying protocols exists for stuff like this already and we move that.

You have a bunch of people then high siding on the requirement to transport being something akin to Ebola and implying crews and providers would need to be quarantined

I have a personal conversation with a pilot who just flew this and provide some pictures he sent me to prove it. Along with his direct experience of the protocols to safely transport being absolutely nothing like what some of you are insisting it would need.

And now some people want to continue to theorize “what if” scenarios like what’s actually going on over there right now isn’t happening (even after confirming it through his own personal connections) and again get hysterical.

Calm down Karen and have a snickers.

I’m not the one on two separate threads trying to amp up hysteria about “we don’t know!” am I.

The people who professionally war game and implement the kind of safe precautions for transport (CDC) are telling the people actively moving evacuees they don’t need anywhere near the level of precaution some on here were postulating as necessary.

We will get through this current health crises the same as we have gotten through the last 3 in the immediate of the last few years. Getting scared and acting like “what isn’t the government telling us!” Like some want to do will not help us in accomplishing that.

It's not the Chinese interrogating crewmembers. But totally nothing to see here. We DID NOT go to mainland China. We went to Hong Kong, which airlines are still flying to. Hell, FedEx is still doing China flights for freight. All the deadheading crewmember did was ride an airline from Germany to Detroit and was interrogated.

Well, except all of the people we're bringing back, but yeah, nobody.

And crew that haven't been to mainland China in over a month are having the airplane held up, Captain PA to stay seated, and the crewmember deadheading (pax) gets escorted off the plane with contamination suits guys and interrogated. Totally normal for a cold. GTFOOH!!
