Furlough Estimates

An outbound crew took an airplane from us at ATL the FO remarked it was so weird that his last trip at Eskimo was to the ATL. I asked why and he said he'd been hired by Southern Jets. When the FO in ATL told me he was giving up almost 4 years I thought that was pretty crazy. But he was 10 years younger than I. With over 400 behind me I thought I was safe from a furlough as I had already gotten past the historical percentage from the 2008 furlough.

June 4th sounds like there could be a big announcement for Eskimo.

It’s going to be more of the same as the previous web casts, canned answers to specifically selected questions, upper management telling you how badly the company is struggling and how quickly we are burning through money, loads are getting better but not as quickly as they hoped, but we are all great employees and they have our best interests at heart.
Then after it’s over likely an email from the DO canceling the awarded bid and announcing the new reduction bid with however many furloughs they decide on.

I'm 33 so I felt like I had to try, the future after being acquired looked really dim before covid, so who knows how it will be on the other side of things. I flew with a capt that interviewed and got an offer at DL, but ultimately backed out. It's been such a massive QOL hit on VX guys that I sadly saw his perspective.

What's the rumot supposed to be? I got banned from the unofficial company forum

Finally. I'm hoping they rip the band aid off. The mania of waiting and the ups and downs of good and bad news is too much. I just want to move on with my life at this point.

One thing is for sure, this is an unforgiving industry. So amazing in the good times and so dismal in the bad times. I barely missed the cut by about 130 people. Had I stayed at Frontier I would have been about 50% on the list there or if I had taken the class at Hawaiian instead of Delta maybe I would be better off now? But I cant questions those decisions now because at the time, at least to me, it was a no brainier to go to Delta and I think I'm still glad I did. Whats dissapointing is that it occured to me that being furloughed is like erasing your seniority and starting over in a sense. Being recalled eventually will be like being a new hire in some ways (Start at the bottom in NYC). It will be years before we hire again.

You’re going to be fine. Speed bump brother.

I think we’re related!

...except I was never offered a class at HAL.

What DID happen:
Interviewed (felt pretty good)...
Waited 5 months...
Got rejected...
Told by a friend on the inside that I had been unanimously reccommended to hire...
Two months later, got another invitation to interview...
Twenty minutes later (after I had replied and dropped some trips), got another email “UN-inviting” me to said interview...
Showed up anyway to be escorted out by security (I hadn’t caused any rucus, they were really nice and just wanted to make sure I didn’t get lost in the construction)!

:ooh:

But it is seriously all good! How boring life would be without all this adventure!

If it's any consolation, it was a no brainer to walk away from Frontier at that point. Anybody in the right seat (except for those people in Denver, you know who I'm talking about) would have gone to Delta, AA, or United at that moment in history.

My hire at Eskimo was a surprisingly similar poop show. It kind of amazes me how things could be so disorganized. Then again its aviation so....

Ha! I had a similar experience at Frontier in 2014.

Interviewed, and absolutely nailed it. The best interview I've ever had.

Did a a final Chief Pilot meet and greet with JP, who was a total jerk right off the bat and basically interrogated me on why I would stay at Frontier if Delta called. Apparently I should have lied when asked if I had apps out to any other airlines.

Get a TBNT letter a few days later.

Three months later I got another email from F9, asking me if I'd like to interview. Yes, I'd love too! I called the recruiter to confirm I could interview since I just had one a few months ago. Awkward pause... They say we will investigate and call me back.

No call back, and no response to a polite email inquiry.

Oh well, they were right to be concerned. I definitely would have left when any of the big 6 gave me an offer. But who wouldn't? All worked out in the end anyway (for now anyway!).

Was that CP the same as the great “Sliver, the Shaved Beaver” scandal?
