Furlough Estimates

All this.

One day, while drinking with our friend from Zurich, we did a show and tell about the cost of living in the US versus Switzerland from soup to nuts.

We’re not getting much bang for the buck here in the US and are swift to talk smack about other countries.

Well we have a lot of pork in those barrels.

There's still guys on the forum asking for advice on what kind of RV to buy so yeah.. oblivious.

I thought AA had the biggest •. But only worrying about maximizing their paycheck without thought of junior pilots, the award may be going on someone else shelves for awhile.

Ive flown with 1 or 2 that im sure would sell out 9900 other pilots to save their own lifestyle here... It doesn't matter where you are, the FYIGM crowd is real . Thankfully its a minority.

It didn't take the "entire world." All it took was a couple dozen Democrat Governors refusing to reopen their states, and a handful of reporters from the mainstream media outlets reporting nothing but doom & gloom.

The COVID is not death sentence they want you to think it is. The original objective of the lock down - avoid overwhelming the healthcare system - was met weeks ago. Yet Democrat Governors are extending lock downs, and the media is still insisting that we must "stay home stay safe."

Where did you go to medical school? It appears you certainly weren’t a political science major! :). (Love ya bro, but tin foil and all that)

We don’t get to put the outside looking in glasses yet. That will come once the pandemic subsides. But when we do look back, we’re gonna find just how bad we effed this, and I’m not talking Trump’s response.

No matter if you view this as a scientific issue or a political one. The forensic science is going to happen. Eventually there will be an antibody test that is reasonably reliable. They will understand the true nature of the virus.

When I lived in Sierra Leon the Ebola thing was mostly over but the CDC was still there in full force. Doing a lot of antibody research. We were at the same hotel so I chatted with those guys at the bar a lot. It was very interesting.

I just hope the results of it all are made very, very public and extremely easy to interpret. Not the current rounds of misinformation and pseudoscience.

I agree. I think this will be the biggest mistake we’ve ever made. (Not saying this isn’t serious) I just think the real numbers of how many have had this will surface.

They’re already doing that. The numbers all point to fatality rate of 1%. Which means 2 million plus dead in the US to reach herd immunity.

REALLY? We know how many people have had this? I got lucky to be tested. I have talked with a lot of people who went through the exactly what I had and were never tested.
What if 1/5 of the population had this?

I’m gonna trust randomized antibody surveys by people who know how to do this stuff over a pilot on the internet. The only place in the US that tested close to 1/5 is NYC, and if you’ll recall they were stacking bodies in refrigerated trucks and burying them in temporary mass graves. So you know, if you’re cool with doing what NYC went through in March and April 2-3 more times, in every major city in the US, then sure, push for your herd immunity delusion. Meanwhile the adults will be working on real solutions following the examples of countries that had success and following best practices to avoid transmission in while we get that figured out.

They’ve had the mass graves for ever in NYC. It’s where all unclaimed bodies go.
Anywhooo, thanks for agreeing that we haven’t tested enough to know how many have really had this.

No, Italy, Sweden, U.K., and Spain have all conducted randomized serological surveys pointing to ~5% of their overall population infected and a ~1% fatality rate. That’s plenty of data to start with.
