Furlough Estimates

We have a long track record of moving... WA is by far the best deal we have found and is a way better overall tax situation compared to most other states we have lived. Unless there are some major changes, like no income tax going away or I will never be based in SEA again, we are not leaving. When you start adding up what the tax burden would be like in other states you can pretty easily come out behind even with purchasing a cheaper house.

The PNW is beautiful.

Live where you want to and will have the best quality of life.

I had an old codger copilot when I was DTW based that kept on suggesting I (like him) plan on moving to Alabama where the cost of living was low for retirement.

”I think you and I would have a profoundly different experience living in rural Alabama.“

”But the taxes are low”

Damn that guy was such a dork in general.

Dude. Come on. That was 80 years ago. Alabama is profoundly different...

LOL. And I, by inheritance, own a substation amount of real estate in Alabama. But NOPE. I don’t feel like living my twilight years as a novelty.

“My kids play with their kids and it’s like we don’t even see colo...”

”GET THE HELL OUT OF MY YARD” :)

That’s funny. In a bad way. “My kids play with THEIR kids...”
“No offense but,...”
“Don’t take this the wrong way...”

Grew up on the south side of the border in OR. What you say about taxes is true, especially important now that I am a WA resident/homeowner (after a long time of living all over, mostly on the east coast). That's a moderate reason to stay. The rest of the reason is that this is probably one of the most amazing, beautiful places to live in N America. I'm not leaving either.....can figure out other employment if current jobs don't work out for whatever reason.

You flying out of Whidby now?

Nice! That's one of my favorite parts of the state. I am also trying to talk the wife into buying property out by Long Beach.

Nice place too. I say do it. The mix of snowcapped real mountains, trees, and ocean in the same view up here basically has no equivalent anywhere I've ever been in any other state, other than maybe AK. I also don't think I have been to the beach and not seen a bald eagle. Such freedom :)

I need to check that out. I have a friend that lives up there and it looks amazing.

You should bid back to DTW and move to Ypsilanti. It's SOOOOOO cheap and close to the airport we could be neighbors WHY DON'T YOU WANT TO LIVE HERE?!
