Furlough Estimates

I’m just gonna throw this here. By the time the 1 minute ends, I usually feel better. One of the best (if not the best) airline ads I’ve ever seen.

AA, post 9/11:

Thanks for the feel good. I know the airlines will still exist after this. They are a necessity. That being said, I worry about going back to the way things were before with horrendous wages and working conditions, at least for the entry jobs. Assuming my company survives, I anticipate being a right seat regional guy again for who knows how long. I just hope the good gigs still exist with the whole supply and demand thing rapidly changing.

If any regional survives, it will be yours. Heck, they'll probably even bail out United again.

Meh. My plan is to basically add more room mates and apply for some kind of loan modification that isn't just a worse situation wrapped up in fancy packaging.

Other than that I have no debt. I still drive the crappy old Toyota Corolla. I keep life pretty simple. Sure no more trips to Whistler but I can't even get across the border. Even if furlough goes on a couple years I'll be fine unless there is some kind of draconian thing that happens with home loans.

I just wont ever be able to retire. Which isn't even in my current list of fires to be put out.

I'm very, very thankful I didn't purchase any new toys and stayed focused on housing within a reasonable drive to the airport. It probably won't bite me too badly. A new car or boat. Yeah that would hurt bigly and was in range of reasonable purchases. The adventure van to drive around and find cool mountain bike spots.

Would have been fun. But also would have been a huge loss this year.
Private bike park!

OO to lose 55 CRJ 200's from Delta

Man if we had an early retirement package at Southernjets I’d be all over it. But I have 16 heads until “mandatory” and the market has a funny way of saying “LOL” when you plan on bailing at 55.

How/why did DL somehow offer OO retirement if at a dedicated DL base?

The UA 200’s were renewed for another 3 years so there’s that at least. Really surprising
Was this mentioned in the call? I’m trying to figure out where that is coming from. Especially given that SK stated the 50 seaters will die because of this.

This is where pretty much everything came from. It appears with the gain in 175's and loss in 2/7/9 the net loss is 56 DL planes. AA 175's finding a new date (so probably delayed) and the UA175's on schedule and owned by UA (former ExpressJet planes). Didn't see anything about the UA 200's. But curious if this is the only shrinking SKW well incur. Certainly doesn't appear to be regional growth like the last downturn, I'm not sure if scope is stricter this time around or not. Then again, too early to say anything right now too. Fingers crossed for you guys.

UA 50 seaters don't have any scope though, correct? I mean technically can't you grow them more too. Possibly with the 55 200's coming offline from DAL? I doubt it since everyone is shrinking but just talking out loud...

Well, since OO doesn't own all 55....
