Furlough Estimates

AA’s displacement bid came out. It has ~quarterly staffing levels until July 2021. We are showing 1,283 pilots fat in July 2021.
Was there anything echoed about the strategy for the pilots that are in the overstaffed list? I know some said Parker relayed the strategy was no furloughs. Seems like 1,200 is pretty low.

It sounds like SJI is going to base their advanced entitlement off of summer 2022 flying. If that ends up being the case, I’m very cautiously optimistic to say we won’t furlough. Not to say we wouldn’t furlough if there’s a nasty second wave and what not. Fingers crossed!

I really hope nobody is making any financial decisions based on this crazy idea that there won’t be furloughs...
Don't think that's what people are saying, we are just trying to find optimistic news in these tough times. I mean, if our fleet plan says I won't be furloughed I'll be very excited but I won't take it to the bank. I was just about to buy house but I'm planning on staying in the apartment a few more years just in case.

I would still buy a house rather than renting. You’re always in a better position owning the real estate. The bank will work with you as much as possible before foreclosing. Of course, actually getting a loan approved right now is a different story...

I have considered this but I'd need to downgrade the price I was looking at. Thankfully I'm still in a good spot because my lease ends in November and I will either be employed or not. I really wanted to take advantage of these interest rates. But moving into a really cheap apartment is also enticing and just go back to saving and paying off my student loans.

Exactly, plan for the worst...hope for...something close to the best at least. At around 80% seniority I'm financially planning for a furlough or at the very least getting displaced. Even if none of these things happen we'll be in financial lock down of sorts for awhile just be on the safe side. Just wouldn't be prudent otherwise.

We benefited from paying under market rent for a good while (helped that we were handy and good renters) but making the jump into becoming home owners was a solid bet. No regerts.

Really, no regrets? Not even one letter?

I took it slightly different. I took it as they don't want to make an AE that hampers summer 2022. The AE will no doubt be primarily driven by summer 2021.

Nonetheless, the fact that summer '22 was mentioned is encouraging.

Mgt has said paid leaves and permanent leaves will be continued to be offered.
