Furlough Estimates

Well according to the Alaska MEC, per the latest podcast, the earliest the company could furlough would be December 1st (due to our latest displacement bid and contractual 30 day notice). Obviously the forecast would come sooner, as to allow mitigation strategies to play out.

In any case, that was a little positive news that I wasn’t aware of. Still mentally & financially planning for Oct. 1st though. Hey maybe I’ll actually get Christmas off this year! I hear garlic bread is a good stocking stuffer

Another Rocky Alum :(

One of our union reps was saying that if a furlough was less than a year, it just makes more sense to offer leaves of absence. That's what he had been told anyways. So let's see what happens come October. Our planes are slowly filling back up.

"we won't furlough"

It's not like this is the worst black swan event to hit the country in 100 years, far worse than great financial crisis, 9/11, the great depression of the 30s, first time the entire country has been shut down, GDP retracting, government printers working on overdrive, CDC saying don't fly, people under lock down orders and staying at home, travel restrictions across the entire planet, all from a virus that started overseas and currently in 6 continents, with continued deaths, no vaccine, and no known effective cure/treatment. Nah, we good.

Them Berkshire Hathaway's Warren Buffett, Boeing and Airbus CEO, Raytheon CEO, Spirit Systems CEO, they don't know what they're talking about when they say it'll take 3 yrs before the industry goes back to 2019 levels and another 2 yrs to go into growth mode that opens up large aircraft orders. I mean, they just like being debbie downers.

Yeah, I get optimism, even though I’m a pessimist by nature, but this seems more like delusion.

Nah man, all is fine. Closing on a house this week and a yacht next Thursday. I just need to make sure I can do 90 hrs on a Captain rate, it's all gonna work out fine.

Oh you’re giving me flashbacks of that copilot who basically showed me his seniority progression chart before we were even off the departure.

”I was going to be a three year mad dog captain in our most senior base. And the very next day, on the 11th of September, everything changed”

Can y'all show me where someone said we won't furlough? The only airline side saying they're overstaffed by 1.5k (despite the worst black Swan event) and will try to ride out with no furloughs is AA. We haven't even posted a fleet projection. We have no idea, nor is anyone saying no furloughs. The whole conversation of optimism was based off AA optimism and the plan to do a fleet and staff projection for Summer 2022.

But I'm pretty sure you already knew that, as you know more information and probably faster information that I do about my own airline.

Then y'all say stop dooming and glooming, you're already writing your furlough notices it's ridiculous, but beat down a optimistic post about being delusional? Again not really surprised because it's from you.

Is that DL? AA is staffing off 80% summer 2021.
