Furlough Estimates

Lol, it must be the Mormon approved bikes. Almost every serious rider in Layton and Ogden was riding a Giant.

Apparently this is an actual Mormon bikes company out of SLC. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Why’s that?

Just discussed in the Alyeska forum. A captain downgraded to FO on an EIL will return to the company after the leave is over and replace an FO. If demand for flying has not returned by the time these guys come back we will start seeing furloughs occur. That is my guess as to how things will play out.

My furlough plan is going into action. I actually expect the economic situation to be quite worse next year and the year after. By 2022 there wont be a whole bunch of people buying brand new mountain bikes or paying 249$ for a bike skills lesson for 2 hours. Hopefully unemployment will get me through a chunk of time after that. My housing situation will effectively cost me nothing at that point or I may even be net positive on rent and housing costs by then.

Guys,

We've had a few bad months and y'all think we're going to be driving around like Fred • Flintstone for the rest of time.

The airlines aren't disappearing. Things will eventually get better. It might take a few years. I understand some of y'all haven't had careers longer than a few years so far, but seriously, stop panicking.

Jesus, glad someone said this. So many running around scared.

Didn't know that. . .

They make frames for many other brands, too. I think that's included in the "biggest manufacturer the world." Nobody really makes a "bad" bike. All of the major manufacturers make bikes with similar componentry to satisfy similar price points. Just find one that feels comfortable, the brand is less important than comfort. Except specialized. That's just straight junk. Avoid.

No, no issues at all. Just teasing.

Already missing it here, ey? I'm sure we could get Skippy to find you a room to stay in and we would always welcome you back.

Yes, actually. Missing all my friends I made there and especially the weather.

steel is real! I demo'ed the Karate Monkey a few summers ago...awesome rig!

Steel is real. I am actually waiting on a handbuilt steel cruiser frame at the moment, even though I have a titanium road bike.

Surly makes good bikes. IMO, they are a little overpriced, but they make bikes that the market wants. I've got a friend whose main rig is a 26" Pack Rat. He rides that sucker thousands of miles a year, all at 13mph. It's nice to slow down and look at the scenery sometimes (hence why I'm doing a handbuilt cruiser - sometimes a road bike, clipless pedals, a HRM, and spandex are just the wrong tool for the job).

Unless you’re a fat guy. There’s something about seeing a fat guy biking in spandex that brightens everyone’s day.

Seeing that furloughs might be closely tied to a vaccine, the first 20 minutes of this is very interesting and encouraging about a vaccine.
It’s an interview of the chief vaccine doc of children’s hospital

Unless this talks about Bill Gates microchipping us and using the 5G network to track us... count me out. Vaccines are only for sheep anyway. Get sick like a real person and your body will naturally fight everything off. Can I still be upset about a furlough if I believe this? ;)
