Furlough Estimates

So what you're saying is that in a few years when all those early outs are gone, there will be a 42% manning hole waiting to be filled? I can live with those numbers......so long as none of you all have to spend time out on the streets in the meantime of course. I think that's good news right?

No the 42% = early outs + paid leaves + unpaid leaves. We only have 164 retirements in the next two years (out of 3100 pilots). Really just a drop in the bucket. The company offered paid leaves, 50 hours a month + bennies, in six month increments from 6 months to 24 months. So really, in two years everyone will hypothetically be back, minus the guys/gals that retired. Hope that helps

Awarded or bid for?

Bid for. The only way it doesn’t get awarded is if they can’t get the replacements trained by 2022 sometime. There will also be a revocation window so that number will go down somewhat.

Some people are going to take an early retirement as they will get 50 hours to sit at home for the next 2 years or so. I didn't look into the early retirement program for obvious reasons but I am curious who will take it. Id doubt if it will go over 200.

Gotcha. AA has been offering less and less and less even though there are qualified people that would like it. And the age 62 thing is a big holdup.

ZW happenings: email warning of the WARNS is out. Originally about 180 downgrades, which got cut by about 50% when papa U gave us more block hrs for August. That said, they are still running downgrade classes, in case we take another block hr nosedive. 38 of 64 jets currently parked in DAY & ATW. I enjoyed my 3 months of CA pay and 3 total IOE trips before my July 1st downgrade. At this point all our hope is on 550/700 flying appearing out of thin air. The only other thing that might help in the short term from my perspective is mainline scope look back requiring a reduction of 175’s available come early next winter, so maybe duece to the rescue.

This sucks.

I'm heading out for an epic ride. 25 miles or so and 4000+ feet of climbing. When I return I will know my future for the next 2 years. I bid all in for the EIL's. Maybe it will help spare Mr 3086, who I met two weekends ago when training stole my ANC-SEA leg and I had to DH.

I'm really hoping I get to be a pro mountain biker for 2 years. Sponsored by Alaska Airlines!

How was your ride? You have a job to come back to and we all got a bump in seniority cus 137 geezers (4%) took early retirement

No furloughs at this place (for now) and 30% of the pilot group are taking leaves of absence.

Really great news and I was lucky enough to snag one of the longer EILs. That combined with the cancellation of the May 1st bid (and subsequent one) will put me out over 2 years; collecting a paycheck and benefits. Feel very fortunate. Our MEC knocked it out of the park!

Man, you're going to have to post a bunch more bike videos to negate the negative karma you generated over the past few months. Congrats on the sponsorship.

Not sure what you’re getting at but we are not out of the woods yet economically. I’ll be posting bike vids on the regular, per the usual...

Best of luck to all of you. In a year I wouldn’t be surprised if Eskimo has another round of leaves or furloughs.

Ugly out there...

East side Seattle. 35 minutes from the employee lot less than 10 minutes from the amazing mountain biking.

You must live on the eastside of the employee parking lot! :bounce:

I lived in Sammamish and moved to Kent when we found a place and I was still 20 minutes out at 4 AM!
