Embarasssing ALPA Magazine Blunder

That's little melodramatic. I've worked with Marie Schwartz when I was on the SYX COMM committee an personally know John Sluys. They're honorable people and have been working on the betterment of our profession, hell, longer than many of us have been pilots.

I think the media group got burned by not fully fact-checking the subject. There are a lot of "Pencil-whipping Tomcatters" out there looking for notoriety and glory and our profession certainly isn't immune.

Shame on the failure to fact check, yes. But shame on Timothy Martins who is an outright ass for doing this.

Doug:

I appreciate your view. Mine is from watching him improperly use FPL to run Praters election campaign. From seeing him take FPL and going on trips around the world that he had no standing to attend, and taking hard earned members dues dollars to do it. It's from him being a part of a program that improperly bought hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of airline tickets that were never used during an organizing campaign...which was a total disaster.

Marie? Known her since she arrived on the scene. She was very focused until she decided to start her political climb for Skiados' job. (Don was a good friend for many years and still is)

Marie is also the person who, when the Travel Department brought up the improper tickets, buried it and trashed the reputation of the person who brought it up. That's yet another lawsuit that, when it goes to trial, will cost ALPA millions. The person was no idiot...she has the proof and the paper trail.

Working with pilots, she did good things. Sadly, like others, she got caught up in the desire to have a bigger office (they count ceiling tiles!) and a lot of tremendous, dedicated people paid the price.

This really takes the cake. After the amount of FPL that you and your IBT buddy sucked out of the ALPA coffers, I'm astounded that you would have the balls to even mention FPL!

Of course, before he fled to France or floated another check on a callgirl he met at the hotel, a la "Catch Me If You Can".

Did you ever read the actual book "catch me if you can" excellent reading. The movie does not do it justice at all. In regards to this gentleman it is truly a shame because for a guy of what 24 he has 3000 hrs (unless this too is shown to be false) and working as an F/O at Eagle..Seems to me he had a lot of bragging rights as it is. But then he has to go and be a major toolbag and fabricate all this other crap. Too bad not only will this possibly end his career at Eagle but his name will be plastered throughout the small aviation world and his life at any other flying job will be pure hell..I hope it was worth it..

It should be impressive, unfortunately nowadays it's not.

Like being the richest regional pilot on the short crew bus?

MikeD,

Lemme fix that for ya,

Fighter pilot, firefighter, AND fed...can't cheat yourself outta the badge bunnies out there.

What a jerk. This is a big embarrassment on ALPA's part.

Look at the bright side:

The next "ALPA Code of Ethics Role Model" selectee should have it pretty easy, if all he/she has to do is be of higher moral and ethical character than this guy.

It's a special ops flashlight... it shines on an ultraviolet / infrared spectrum... its used to identify hairline fractures in F-16s after doing an unapproved low pass and totally making the tower boss spill his coffee!
