Current Employment Verification

If your employer were to let you go, without a letter of resignation being submitted, are you eligible for unemployment? With the economy the way it is, I don't foresee being able to find another job (even a temp position).

How would receiving unemployment benefits factor into your employment screening and/or background check? Would that disqualify you in any way? I can't find any threads or posts about it.

I think he's just concerned about being let go if they figure out he's looking for another job.

With employers looking to cut payroll when and where they can, it is a valid concern. I doubt they would oppose your application for unemployment in this case unless you had performance or discipline issues at work.

No it wouldnt have any bearing on your being picked upi unless you were fired for theft or something like that. Unemployment in and of itself would not be a factor.

I am not worried about it causing any problem with the FAA.
I am worried about being broke waiting for an OKC date when my boss finds out I have been looking for other jobs (the FAA's employment verification) and fires me.:(

My boss received my Employment Verification in July of last year (I applied in Feb). I told her I filled out an online application to be an ATC but it is a really hard field to get into so I just did it on a whim. That was the end of the conversation and it never came up again until I gave my two week notice last week.

To some supervisors, you might as well tell them that you put your name in a hat for the next shuttle mission......

For the record, in case anyone else was curious (and expecting to need to know) my HR rep told me unemployment would not effect anything with the background checks/PEPC stuff.

For the record it is also not a huge deal if an employer or two don't respond either. I asked my HR Rep. this because the two most recent companies I worked at have policies not to disclose employment or performance information when they get those types of things. Also after the KC PEPC some people started getting FOL's just three days after their refferences got the letters, which means it was almost impossible for the refferences to have been returned by than, meaning that unless negative information comes back from multiple sources I do not think that the employment verifications and refference checks would hurt you.

Has anyone seen this letter? Where does it come from. I have my secretary looking for it as I am not interested in burning my bridge any sooner then I have too.

It comes from the Office of Personnel Management. Has a spiffy gov't logo on the envelope. You can't miss it.

I'm sure is what he meant is if you report it, it probably won't have an adverse effect on your employment with the FAA.

If you quit or change jobs between TOL and FOL I don't think you need to report it, this came up earlier with a person who was fired from their job the day after returning from the PEPC, he did not report it and it was not a big deal as by than you had already submitted and signed you E-QIP, so you did not lie on anything on the form and the FAA don't appear to put alot of stock into the refference letters or even their return rate as many employers have policy not to reply to those things, and many people recieve a FOL just days after references recieve letters.

Here is a question for some of you.

I used to work for Clear Channel Television (prior to the buyout). Shortly after I left, my supervisor got canned and his boss got canned. Sow since the Television is under a new name and no supervisors to vouch for me, how will that work?
