Any rumors of PUBNAT 8?

I'm ok with that, as long as I get a slot.

I'm predicting at least 24 months before any PUBNAT8'ers will see OKC. And that is with what I'd say that 1/600th of whoever is being considered in the panel. Look at the 10 year hiring plan guys...it's not progressively getting higher...it's progressively getting lower.

The figure we talked about last in my CTI class was 1 out of 10 CTI would be picked up, and we had 350 (around?) in my program...

Since the panels are supposedly meeting today, what actually happens? Are only those who put the states they have needs in picked for the list? Then what? They just see the list and pick who they want based on the list? Also how long would we know?

According to the stuckmic forums you are on the referral list if you submitted a geo pref and the state/states you listed are hiring. Panels meet the entire week of the 18th and emails go out to those selected 1-4 weeks later.

Seems like a waste of money if only 10% of the people get chosen to do a job they trained 2 years to get.

I dont see how it is a waste of money. CTI grads have more opportunity to get in than OTS people. They have the advantage of applying to more job announcements.

Being CTI doesnt guarantee employment. It does open up your potential, but that is it. Still have to score well on your AT-SAT and still be marketable.

Also, it's not really 2 years of training. It's more so the degree. The same could be said for becoming an airline pilot. 4 year college degree, plus flight training for the OPPORTUNITY to become an airline pilot. It's all perspective.

Heres to everyone hoping to hear something! If this doesnt work out for me, I can finally FOR SURE close out this chapter of my life and focus even more on my current goals! :)

I think everyone is being slightly over pessimistic on this one... just my guess seeing as how everyone here is merely speculating. I think the hiring slowed way down the last 2 years, but those who have geo prefs in now have pretty good shot at the panels if you got WQ and picked the right states!

I picked California since there's a lil over 30 FAA facilities there..and ALaska...cause no one wants to go to Alaska :)

Eh, it's only right people are pessimistic about this panel. OTS hiring is almost at a nill since theres a sufficient flow of CTI and VRA through the pipeline while hiring has slowed.

I've been in this since PUBNAT4 and havent been picked up. I have WQ and chose a huge state (CA) and nothing.

Hey though, I am starting to play the lottery. Figure I have a better shot at that!

Did you only put down Cali?

They got through the vets/CTI's today, and chose over 40 OTS applicants out of over 2400. They'll make a few more selections tomorrow, but they're mostly finished. Everyone keep your fingers crossed!!!

To be honest with you, I'm not sure wether they're allowed to disclose info or not once decisions have been made. I wasn't told to keep the info to myself, but they prolly didn't know I was a member of JC either.

I know they will use this list one more time. Most on the panel thought they wouldn't even make it through the CTI/vet list today, but they did. There will be a few more OTS's selected tomorrow. I'll try to get the final numbers then.

The good news is there are OTSers being selected from pubnat8. Many thought it wouldn't happen. And there will only be more selected next panel! Thats good news for us all!

I respect your weariness to disclose. Just an observation based off your location, do you work at the academy? Again if you can't answer I understand.

I do agree that it's good news that OTS are being picked up! Although, I honestly believed that at least a small number would be selected, based off of past panels. So if I read your response correctly, there IS going to be another panel in this FY? Or just one more day of selections period?

Regardless thank you for the information! Keep us posted if anymore news travels down the pipeline!

I don't work there. I'm trying to get to the academy same as you. I was told this list will be used again for one more panel(after this panel which ends tomorrow). I haven't been around long enough to know how these things "usually" go. I just know the consensus was there wouldn't be many(if any) OTS selected from pubnat8. I'm pleasantly surprised some of us will, in fact, be selected.

so we should see messages in ASAP within the next few weeks then? 2400? Is that just Vets and CTI? Must be more apps than that.
