Alaska Hawaiian Merger?

Isn’t it kind of weird when dads expect credit for watching their own kids? It’s not babysitting or doing anyone a favor. You have 50% ownership.
Yeah I find it weird how when I take my 3 to Costco solo I get all kinds of "way to go"s, but if a mom has a bunch of shorties in the cart I doubt they get the same adulation? It's an American thing though because my Swedish family has way more expectations of parenting equality (as it should be). With a lot of states not offering paternity leave, the gender roles just get perpetuated. #EvilSocialism

Generally if you look at most sitcoms over the years, the woman keeps the house together and generally the dad isn’t really involved more than he needs to be.

I know that that’s a common thing, but for some reason where I live I don’t get it much if at all.

Did jetcareers just become aware of the patriarchy in an airline merger thread?

But it is indeed super annoying when people elevate men for simply parenting or, conversely, aggressively offer to hold your squirmy 8mo old on a plane when you’re traveling without your wife.

So, the merger hearing got pushed out another few days it seems…yet another thread off the rails and talking about whatever stupid BS other than the main topic

We have to wait until Tuesday now!!!???

I had that happen checking in with Tehran (obviously a few years ago) after departing Bahrain. I was flying and they wouldn’t acknowledge the captain’s check in. The rest of the controllers were super cordial, but that first one obviously had some insecurities.

Captain said it didn’t bother her much and in her interview they actually asked her what she’d do in that situation. I’m sure she gets a pretty fantastic feeling landing a 747 in places like that and making all the troglodytes uncomfortable.
I've heard several stories of Saudi pilots at Red Flag ignoring all female-issued calls and instructions. Crazy it runs that deep. In the case of Iran, they have enough female airline pilots now that Tehran Center has hopefully gotten over that.

I don’t have kids, but to me a vacation isn’t a vacation without my wife. I’d rather hang out with her at a highway rest stop motel 6 than go back to Tahiti by myself.

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes about being on a layover by myself.

"Layovers are, I'm afraid, lonely. There's a dramatic, even tragic aspect to even a good meal, a beautiful view. In fact the better the view, the tastier meal, the somehow sadder because you have no one to share it with."

-Anthony Bourdain
I think about this a lot, even when I get a really cool layover there's always that feeling that it would be so much better with some good company, especially my wife. I don't mind doing things alone, but having somebody to share the experience with is definitely more of a motivation to leave the hotel.

Eh, I kinda get that but also it’s nice sometimes to do what I want to do and not think about anyone else. Then again with 3 kids at home I don’t take a whole lot of me time when I’m off work. However the day when we can leave the kids at home alone and Mrs comes with on a layover can’t come soon enough.

With so many exotic locations across our route network, what's not to like?
