I’d expect TFG’s FAA to engage in a perfunctory certification campaign and “we’ll figure it out on line,” if you get my drift, here.

There’s probably enough inertia there on South 216th Street that the big stuff everyone’s worried about is going to be accomplished, at least.

AS Q3 10K shows 21 MAX - 10 in 2026. It's the only orders on the books for that year.

I sincerely hope the mediocre 10 never sees the light of day. Considering how much or a worthless pig the MAX 9s are I can't fathom how horribly the 10s would perform. Probably needs airports with 12,000' runways and temps that never get above 80 to even take off half full, and then maybe able to climb above 30.

I spent quite a few years working on airplanes, including a lot of time fiddling with retractable landing gear. I like to think I’m still fairly good at understanding how that stuff works. A couple years ago there was a video from Boeing about the linkage they put in to make the MLG on the -10 longer but still fit in the same bay. I watched it several times and still didn’t get it. I’m sure that blacksmith puzzle would have been real reliable on contaminated runways at -40°

I'm pretty sure that plane wouldn't be able to operate in that scenario anyway, so kind of a non-issue. :D

Only has 1 redeye leg in my base, and even that one is uber short/easy to do from ANC…I’ll call that a major QOL win…and it has much lower fatigue levels than le Bus does.

I wasn’t on the E long enough to turn into a princess, Dash Trash runs in my veins and makes the Bubble Guppy life pretty easy.

I love the MAX9 and looking forward to the 10 :)


The NG flies like an A320ceo, whereas the MAX9 flies like the A321neo. I love it!

The 9 can't climb out of its own shadow. Why do you think we rarely use it much in OGG? Cause it can't get off the ground with anywhere close to a full load. In HNL, it can never take off on 8L unless we're half empty. Even in the dead of winter once you get to 20K, you're stuck climbing out at 600 fpm all the way to altitude no matter what speed you're flying. And hopefully you don't need to climb to try and get above weather because you won't be able to. They wasted money certifying it up to 410, 'cause it can't ever climb that high.

Now actually feeling/handling wise, the 9 flies fairly nicely. It's just that performance in on par with a Geo Metro. It's a worthless pig. Also love that we have a 2 foot long VSD and a massive compass rose that no one has ever looked at on those giant tv screens, but our actual PFD is smaller than in the NGs. Such a fail on so many levels. However, it sips on gas so the clowns who only ever sit at desks and look at spreadsheets love it because they never have to deal with all the operational shortcomings out on the line when they're in the crystal palace of yes men.

The -9 is a bit better. I assume the FBW spoilers help a little with the roll feel. You also still have the weird “pause” in rotation. Your comments on the displays are right on, but I also feel compelled to complain about how the “HSI” on the PFD is still tiny and dumb when you have all that screen real estate.
