One of my good friends used to work for ATA....
I fly with a pilot who used to work for Muse Air. Don't even get him started.
Didn't those guys have to re-interview for their jobs?
. ALPA will roll over as usual. Why do you think they "negotiated" regional lift at AirTran. Pathetic.Because they'll lose out in the end if they do.
This isn't 'Nam, there are rules.
AFAIK, he got the axe. Period.

I am willing to bet ALPA won't be there when ATN pilots need it most.
Are you leading the charge to decertify your union yet, or are you just being a keyboard ninja this morning?
I'm about done with ALPA since they made a clerical error and asked me to pay 30% more dues for the year.
I'm not unhappy with the structure in place with our local council (though electing a guy to MEC Chair that the DTW pilots successfully recalled blows my mind).
If we could have a local union with our money staying with XJ/9L/9E pilots I would be very happy. Especially since according to mainline brethren at SWA "negotiate for yourself".
You are the foremost authority on questioning leadership decisions. Why aren't you appalled that a new scope sale occurred and the ATN MEC endorsed it?
ALPA needs to be fixed badly, and my wasted $2/mo for the PAC won't help. We need a REAL national UNION. National should never sign contracts that have cutthroat pay scales and/or scope problems that allow whipsaw at any level. Where are NATIONAL CRJ200 rates? Or 50 seat rates? All 50 seat operators should pay the same.
Right. How much are you guys paying in dues, again?
So it's YOUR GUYS that are a-ok, but everybody else sucks? Gotcha.
Then go make it happen and stop complaining on the internet.
I don't question decisions that other locals make because I don't work there. I'm in no position to critique what I don't understand, where I don't know the full story. I don't assume they're idiots right off the bat, I assume I don't have all the data.
You know guys say crap like this, and then don't do a thing about it. Not, one, thing. Me? I think the system works pretty well. You obviously don't, but you haven't lifted a finger to change things.
Or said another way, tits or GTFO. Man up, holmes.
Your solution is obvious.
De-certify the union.
If enough other people are pissed off, you'll be successful.
According to some pilots at SWA, Management may be looking at dumping the ATN pilots onto the street if they make too big of a fuss. It has happened before. It can happen again. If that is the case a US Airways/America west would be preventable. Would definitely suck for ATN pilots though.
My dad told me that Herb (who's no longer involved in the day to day operations) personally flew to Atlanta to tell the AirTran pilots that if they didn't get on board with a deal he would furlough all of them and sell off their assets. Which is harsh but understandable when you build a company based on happy employees.

Cause that'll keep your company full of happy employees! Lol
