Aircraft Sounds, your favorite

The 757 with RRs hands down the best sound. Gives me chills when I hear that rocket whistle as this 75 flies by. :)

First a couple big radials flying over head...especially a DC-3

Second, A turbo prop reverse thrust...dont know why, its just cool!

A Boeing 777's GE-90 engine, especially at the beginning of a takeoff roll.... Nothing else comes close to how awesome it sounds.

Okay, the GE-90 at least to me makes no real distinctive sound at least in direct comparison to the hair drier sound of the RR RB211.

If you don't agree with me I'll fight you. It's Saturday night, and my mom says that I can stay out till 1am!

I stand by my opinion. :D

I've been on several flights with GE-90 powered 777's, plus I've heard the external sound of GE-90 powered 777's during takeoff, and I truly believe that the GE-90 has a distinct and sweet sound. No other engine out there sounds the same. In fact, the video that you posted proves that as well. Of course, to each his own. :)

Here are a couple of videos to prove my point:

Thanks for posting those two videos.

They're the best I seen/heard that demonstrate this sound you GE freaks are talking about.

As for the "distictive sound" it only seems it can be heard mostly on "power up" then it seems to disipate. Where as the sound of the RB211 or even the V2500 is more of at least a louder and continous humming sound.

Check it. For you Doug!

*you're lucky it's well past my curfew!

Hey man, I can point out the IAE, the GE and the Pratt!

If you want to retain your anet geekdom, how would you tell on the 757/767 EICAS if you've got GE's or Pratts?

Lol, I've been de-throned, bro. You'd have to ask my successor coa787. Trust me he'll know!

I bought MS FS 2004 2 yrs ago.

Played it for like 15-20 mins and was bored. It's collecting dust on a self somewhere.

I "owe" him a trans-Atlantic planning chart and I hven't seen him around much since!

I do. Where is there a Golden Corral or a Sizzler nearby? :) :sarcasm:

Just let me know when!

oh, get the 16-Oz Prime New York Strip Palm, New York City. I heard it was number one on the all time steak list.

I do owe Matt a steak dinner for the bet I lost. Hey Ojo, where's the neartest Waffle House? You can get eggs to order too! :) :sarcasm:

Is there at least an Amato's down there? "The Do" highly suggests that.

Yes, I'm familiar with this type of engine sound as I've flown several times on IAE V2500 powered MD-90's. That's an awesome sound.

The thing is about the GE-90 is that, not only does it sound awesome, but it also sounds smoother and nicer than the RB211 or V2500 during a flight. Of course, like I said, to each his own. :D

What's better than one R-2800? Two R-2800's! Nothing's better than the sound of an F7F Tigercat!
