Anything that is quiter than a C130 on taxi. When your deployed and trying to sleep in a tent next to the runway quiet is good for crew rest.

Most irritating airplane noise? It's a tie between the BONE and a Prowler combat loaded, wet runway, static takeoff. It just shakes your core. Sucks when you're trying to sleep.

Justin, you're soon to be an engineer. What makes the RB211 sing the way it does like the video I posted?

Is it the airflow passing through the engine? If so, why don't all high bypass engines make the similar sound?

My favorite is the sound when you turn off the batteries and everything goes dark. Preferably on the ground and more preferably on the ground at your home base! :crazy:

The Rolls-Royce RB211 as they throttle up and of course their distinctive groan during full power. Man I LOVE that!!! The RB211 is a man's engine.

I also like those differential hydraulic pumps or whatever they are on the A320 (aka the "monkey with a hacksaw in the cargo hold"). Don't know why...:laff:

50% of the time when I fly on an A320 some passenger gets worried at that noise.
