[ QUOTE ]
I am a little reticent to keep responding to this thread because in the end I don't really care what other serivce members think about my branch or anyone elses for that matter, but I have a lot of time on my hands this morning and I am curious as to when someone (re8va_ustm) will admit that my main point might actually be valid.
[ QUOTE ]
Oooh Rah
Thanks Mtsu. That made me think of something else I missed.
The esprit de corps that is ingrained within the Marines may
be one factor people in other services, and even those who
are not in the military, harbor resentment towards the Corps.
Semper Fidelis
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds to me like this is a typical Marines excuse to be an ignorant, cocky, [censored].
[/ QUOTE ]
And we have a right to be cocky...When you're the best (combat tested, battle proven, respected worldwide, endorsed by Air Force wives in every state!!), you can be that way!
[ QUOTE ]
Do you really think the other services give two •s about your espirit de corps?
[/ QUOTE ]
We know that the other branches don't care...that's why they'll never be like the Marine Corps. "It's all about me. Semper I, Screw the other guy!!"
[ QUOTE ]
The only time I think about Marines or other branchs of the military is when I either work with them, or when someone from another branch is talking [censored] about the Air Force.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fair enough...we really don't like you guys, either....really.
[ QUOTE ]
Why do I not think about them? Because I know that 95% of the people in all services either joined the service because it would somehow benefit them in the long run, or they had nothing better going for them in the civilian world.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some of us jointhe service to [gasp] serve....strange concept, I know....
[ QUOTE ]
And then you have the 5% that truly joined to serve thier country. Bottom line is I joined the branch that I thought was the best for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really, I'm glad that you actually have the intestinal fortitude that you joined the Armed Services for yourself! I have no doubt that alot of folks join the military so that they can benefit.
However, there are still lots of fine Americans that joint the military in an effort to serve. They do their service, and they do the best that they can. After that, they leave!
[ QUOTE ]
It has turned out to be the best for me. And yes I can still serve my country honorably, and return home at the end of the day with a sense of pride in what I am doing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can you really wear that Greyhound Uniform and be proud??
(Sorry, bro...I had to...you walked into that one)
[ QUOTE ]
So when I hear things like everyone in the service besides the Marines thinks it's all about me me me, I can't help but laugh because damn near everyone gets quite a few benefits from serving in the military and all are fairly compensated.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, stop...you Air Force guys started the "We get more" stuff....
[ QUOTE ]
If you want to go through life wanting to be [censored] on and treated like a bitch at every opportunity, well then don't join any U.S. service because they all treat thier poeple very well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh? Ever been on a ship, flyboy?
[ QUOTE ]
I get time off from work every other day to go keep myself in the great shape that I am in already . . .
[/ QUOTE ]
Shouldn't that be a part of the work day?
[ QUOTE ]
. . .when I deploy I don't spend much more time than 3 months in boring ass countries (that don't really have many hot ladies) . . .
[/ QUOTE ]
What if you're needed in that country? Does QOL take priority over mission accomplishment? Would that have worked in WWII?
Oh, wait...there was no Air Force in WWII....
[ QUOTE ]
. . . I am encouraged to think for myself and solve problem on my own accord which fosters a healthy mindset for going back out in the civillian world . . .
[/ QUOTE ]
Quite frankly, I'm not concerned with the civilian transition.
[ QUOTE ]
. . . and gives me a greater sense of accomplishment when problems are overcome . . .
[/ QUOTE ]
That's what the obstacle course is for, kid! Anybody can "problem solve" in a nice, air conditioned building. Grab a machine gun, grab a pack and grab 400 rounds of ammo. We're going on a little run...
That'll give you a sense of accomplishment.
[ QUOTE ]
. . .I would like to fly the best aircraft in the world someday . . .
[/ QUOTE ]
The best aircraft for which mission? Is the F-15 the best mission for carrier operations? "Best" is pretty subjective, don't you think?
[ QUOTE ]
and if I choose to become an officer, the Air Force is the harbinger of state of the art equipment and training . . .
[/ QUOTE ]
Not exactly toughness, though...eh?
[ QUOTE ]
I do the job I signed up to do back at MEPS, even when I deploy . . .
[/ QUOTE ]
Who doesn't?
[ QUOTE ]
I can jump on a Space-A flight anytime I please and go experience new parts of the world, for free.
[/ QUOTE ]
So can every single person in the military....even the reserve and guard.
[ QUOTE ]
. . . don't really spend any time being jealous of the Marines espirit de corps, or the Navy's outstanding food, or the Coast Gaurds stash of pot they confiscated, and I sure as hell don't care to troll aviation forums all day long with fatuous attempts at gouding people into thinking one branch is better than the other.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're the one that made this long post about the Air Force, talking about how much you don't care for the Corps....
[ QUOTE ]
We just don't need to hear closed minded opinions on why one branch is the best for everyone.
[ QUOTE ]
You're 100% right. Please, stay in your Air Force...we neither need, nor want you. . .
[ QUOTE ]
Have a good day!
[/ QUOTE ]
Please, end a military conversation with something strong and military-like, such as : "Over" or "Out", or "Ooh-Rah"
Good day? Is this the military or Sears??
