AIN/Bob Hoover honoring a scab!

I respectfully disagree. Many of the unionized trades due indeed keep "black lists" and it it is virtually impossible for them to find work on job sites that are using union labor. No unionist should ever cross a picket line, period.

Be that as it may, there is a large portion of the aviation world that frankly could not care less who was a scab at what airline.

Not advocating it, just calling it like I see it.

Lots of people "in" the industry don't care about the scab thing.

Those are usually the guys working at non union shops. I cared about scabbing before I ever went to the airlines. When you pay union dues every month, have a CBA with the company, and one person crosses the line, you just wasted all of your time and effort even bothering to have a union.

Greed
Arrogance
Just an all around horrible person.

Lack of foresight to have a "strike fund" set up. Not that I'm condoning that sort of thing, I mean there's other ways to earn money in the meantime, but if there's anything remotely close to a legitimate reason, that'd be it.

Not really anything legitimate about poisoning your PIC mid-flight though.

All this talk of him being a scab but every time I visit an airlines SIM center in Colorado I see photos of him all over the place.

Apropos of nothing, but interesting.

Two other notable scabs: Paul Burnham, UAL '85 died in the United 232 crash in Sioux City. He was commuting in the back.

Don Albury, EAL '89 was the copilot on the Enola Gay.

Also, the jumpseat protection list (at least the one I have) does not list the two Falcon Air scabs who flew struck work during the Spirit strike.

Reading the postings both here and in other threads makes me shake my head. It would be laughable were it not so sad to read a comment like this:

that includes this:

I'm not taking a shot at the poster here because this is seems to be a common feeling. I'll admit that I might not ever understand it but I do find it all pretty hypocritical.
Yes, you are taking a shot especially at me. There is nothing laughable here. There is nothing laughable about pounding the payment with your brothers because of management, pay scales and contract issues and there sure as hell is nothing funny about pilots who care only for themselves, cross the line and fly struck work. Lacy was particular egregious because he not only laughed at and chided pilots walking the line in person, to their faces, but he even went so far as to give interviews at the time stating how silly and worthless the strike was. He was nothing but a management shill. His bottom line was his own wallet. He has no integrity whatsoever.

Perhaps it's difficult for you to imagine how serious this is when you've never been in such a position. Pilots have nothing except their own unity to rely on in the end. Their union doesn't always do the right thing for them and neither does management.

There is nothing hypocritical whatsoever in what I stated. It is one thing to recognize a scab and for them to have to live with and deal with what ever legal admonishments that they incur for the rest of their working life. I have always also held the position that ALPA should never take any scab back. Ever. It is quite another issue however, to commit an illegal, criminal activity upon a scab pilot or their family. I don't know how much clearer I can be. No scab is ever forgiven. They are forever tarnished. But criminal activity against them or harassing their family, is simply a step too far. In committing an illegal/criminal act upon a scab pilot, you have now lowered yourself to their level and are no better than they are. If you cannot grasp or understand what I am saying, I can't help that.
