A pilot has been indicted for allegedly threatening to shoot the captain if the flight was diverted

That is literally not how FFDO works.

Duh.

Except it kinda is how it works because if I had been one I would have had the weapon and I would have used it instead of the end table. I remain thankful that neither was necessary.

You are, as usual, completely impervious to the point, though.

Because they're handed out like candy to idiot manchildren.

Next question.
Handed out like candy? In LA I can't get one, I thought you lived in the Bay Area and I'll bet you can't get one either. They're not handed out like candy to anyone where I live and it's a shame because all of the places the don't allow people to defend themselves are turning into crime ridden crap holes, want to know why? It's because criminals, by definition, don't care about the law. All these restrictions do is make law abiding citizens defenseless victims. I never carry.

My response was to your post worrying about your hearing. If shots are being fired, you have a massive issue going on, your hearing will be just fine.

I’d argue that’s a pretty traumatic scene to be going through. I don’t think it’s gonna be that clear cut and dry.

That would be a completely illegal use of your service weapon. Your jurisdiction with that weapon starts and ends on the flight deck.

Good luck with the charges and lawsuits.

You can get one now. They’re so backed up, might take a while. But apply now and start the process.

It's not all about you, chief.

I have to be alive to worry about that stuff, right? If Kyle can drive to a riot with an AR-15 that doesn't belong to him and murder a guy with a skateboard I'll take my chances.

You’re alive today. Using a gun then would not have been the right call, clearly.

Reminds me back when in 2012 (13?) when LAX had that shooter in T3, one VX Capt ran back down the jetbridge to grab his service weapon, but then thought better of it and went no further.

I want to know what situation you got into that required you to use an end table as a weapon and how you ended up there? Perhaps your temperament is not suited for owning a firearm, but that doesn't mean other responsible people shouldn't, it means you shouldn't. Legislating for the lowest common denominator only gives the outlaws more power.

Way to continue to miss the point, here I'll restate it for you:

The only time I ever had cause to wish I was armed was when I was nowhere near the flight deck.

Well you're gonna have to learn to read then because I already told the whole story.

Then you need to get your own gun and then a CCW.

“After much prayer, applicant concluded that he cannot participate in such a religious ritual— and thus cannot take the vaccine — because, as a Christian, he must render worship to God only.”

Yet he wouldn’t hesitate to outlaw abortion and dictate what a woman can or can’t do with her own body. After much prayer, of course.

I don't feel compelled. I'll defend my house but I don't feel the need to carry a gun. Even if I had one on me, and any firearm instructor will tell you, if you can get away from a bad situation that's the best and first option that you better take. If you're carrying and you start popping off rounds suddenly you're a criminal too not a hero. If you have a CCW and you carry legally I hope you have insurance to cover your legal bills after the fact, I'm sure your instructor told you all of this. I still have faith and until things get real ugly I'll just use my guns to have fun. If you shoot someone in LA you're going to jail, CCW or not, offense or defense, you're going to jail and you better have some sort of legal protection setup prior to your altercation. A gangbanger has nothing to lose so they have no value to our current justice system. You, on the other hand, are a high value target that the courts can make lots of money from. It's sad, but it's true. You have a target on your back, not from the criminals, from our courts. So no I will not be seeking a CCW in LA.

Honestly the only time I ever said "gee I wish I were an FFDO" was on a Houston overnight when someone started trying to kick my door down at 2:30am.

Security arrived and it turned out they were drunk and had the right room number, but the wrong hotel.

My plan was to brain them with the end table as they came in and hope it killed them because I wouldn't get a second shot at it. Thank goodness security was fast and the door was sturdy.

Really kind of a bad reason, though, if you think about it.
That's the story? I have a story about a hotel in Nassau with a deadbolt, a missing door handle that left a hole, and someone trying to peek in. It got interesting but I never wanted to kill anyone. My wife and I did leave immediately for a better resort and had a great time. Never thought about a gun.

Get out. Really? Was it the “LoL mY yOkE is MoRe dAnGeRoUs ThAn AnY fIrEaRm” argument?

These conversations are exhausting. All I want to do is fly to the layover, change my clothes (which do not include shorts or New Balance), eat my $24 club sammich from the computer generated named restaurant in the lobby, go up to my room, and expire for 12 hours.
