How is the 8 hours of pay going to be added? Easiest case will be a reserve who is scheduled 10 days off and then doesn't fly above 75 hours. That pilot gets 83 hours of pay. But what about a line holder? A lot of the lines for February were scheduled to 10 days off, but are way above guarantee. Does the 8 hours just disappear in that case, or will a 95 hour line now be worth 103?

I read it that your 95 hour line just became worth 103 hours.

I'm sure lines will be built much different with the new rules in effect.

True, but a lot of the rules won't be taking effect until late this year, hence the provision for guys getting less than 11 days off. Part of the problem is we don't have the staffing for that right now. I say screw 'em. Let them cancel flights and deal with Daddy Delta being pissed. If we treated Delta (our customer) the way the company treats their internal customers (ie the way employees are treated by management, scheduling, and other depts we interact with), this airline woulda been kicked to the curb long ago. Now, again, the pilots are being asked to take one for the team and save the day. We told them over a year ago "Hey, morons. We're short. We need to hire." Their response: "No we don't. Everything is fine....BTW, you're working on your day off this week." Fast forward a few months "Hey, guys are gonna time out. We need to hire." Their response "No we don't. Then we'll have to furlough in the Fall." Few more months. Them: "ZOMG! We need to hire. We've announced hiring. Problems are SOLVED!" Us: "Uh, yeah. Great announcement. What about the 2-3 months it'll take those guys to actually make it to the line?" Them: "But....we're HIRING!" Few more months later: "We don't need to hire anymore. We'll just hire into a pool." Us: "Um, we're still canceling flights due to lack of crews." Them: "Uh....we need to right size our operation! Displace! Displace!" They knew in December that they agreed to 11 days off minimum. They shoulda bumped up hiring and upgrade then. They didn't. They need to deal with their poor management decisions. Fall on the sword and find a new job or crawl on your knees begging Delta. Sorry, but I've got no sympathy for upper management. We've bailed them out too many times in the past only to get kicked in the face as thanks.

For the 9L guys, how will that work with pay? Any credits earned on or after the 18th will be paid at the higher rate? What if your under guarantee?

I would expect the first 37.5 hours of the month will be paid at the current rate.. the next 37.5 (or close to it) would be paid at the new rate..

This is just me guessing though..

What I head was it'll be retro to the beginning of the month. Could be wrong, though. Would make sense to have it retro to the second half of Feb since that's what the March 1st paycheck is technically paying out. I just did a quick scan through LOA 2, but I couldn't find anything definite on pay rates. Vacation accrual is retro all the way back to Jan 1st, 2011, though.

Rates go effective on DOS. Feb 18. So your march 1 check will be the new rate prorated from 2/18 as the start date- just as if your hire date was Feb 18 and you were getting a raise.

Got it. Although, with our payroll and accounting department, they might save paper by just making it the 16th instead. If you make it a non-normal cut off date, I have zero faith they'll do it right. These are the same people that forgot to put in my raise last year. When I called them, and they said "We fixed it," I wound up at 2nd year CA rate instead of 5th.

I had to call for my 1-2 year raise, AND my 3-4 year raise. Thats 2/3 of my annual raises. I can't imagine what it will be like getting a raise on DOS, longevity, AND 12/1. Hopefully they get their act together!!

I may have missed something, but what is the raise on 12/1??? And I have never really had a problem with payroll missing my raise. The don't exactly do it how I think makes sense, but it gets done and adjusted right so I don't mind. I just feel bad with anyone with a February DOH. 3 raises in a month is more than I would think they could handle. Good luck everybody.

The annual raises will come on 12/1, not DOS (2/18). Look at the top of the pay scales in the TA and you will see what I am talking about.

Anyone know if an outstation Saab guy on TDY to a Hub get the 4 hour min day? I'm assuming yes. They love to DH you guys to IAH or IAD to do a leg or two and ship you back.

When did that become TDY?

Sounds like a RSV assignment.. Unless they publish a TDY bid, I don't think it's TDY.. If you are TDY, you'd be getting 4 hour min day to begin with as you're "based there" that month..

TDY is done a little different here at 9L. Some do not understand the true meaning to certain phrases. Junior man, extended, TDY come to mind, but then again being in the top 10% of FO's I seem to get junior manned like it is going out of style!

Ben, things are going to change here in a flash. I urge you to attend the roadshows to get your questions answered. There will be a conference call for those who could not attend the roadshows. The negotiating committees and your reps are well versed in the language of the contract and are more than willing to answer your questions. If you have any questions that can wait a week I'll be more than happy to help answer them.
