True, but a lot of the rules won't be taking effect until late this year, hence the provision for guys getting less than 11 days off. Part of the problem is we don't have the staffing for that right now. I say screw 'em. Let them cancel flights and deal with Daddy Delta being pissed. If we treated Delta (our customer) the way the company treats their internal customers (ie the way employees are treated by management, scheduling, and other depts we interact with), this airline woulda been kicked to the curb long ago. Now, again, the pilots are being asked to take one for the team and save the day. We told them over a year ago "Hey, morons. We're short. We need to hire." Their response: "No we don't. Everything is fine....BTW, you're working on your day off this week." Fast forward a few months "Hey, guys are gonna time out. We need to hire." Their response "No we don't. Then we'll have to furlough in the Fall." Few more months. Them: "ZOMG! We need to hire. We've announced hiring. Problems are SOLVED!" Us: "Uh, yeah. Great announcement. What about the 2-3 months it'll take those guys to actually make it to the line?" Them: "But....we're HIRING!" Few more months later: "We don't need to hire anymore. We'll just hire into a pool." Us: "Um, we're still canceling flights due to lack of crews." Them: "Uh....we need to right size our operation! Displace! Displace!" They knew in December that they agreed to 11 days off minimum. They shoulda bumped up hiring and upgrade then. They didn't. They need to deal with their poor management decisions. Fall on the sword and find a new job or crawl on your knees begging Delta. Sorry, but I've got no sympathy for upper management. We've bailed them out too many times in the past only to get kicked in the face as thanks.
