HOT!!!

Ok, I'm a little confused.

I received my FOL in mid-June for an August 8th academy.
Are you saying my class was cancelled? I haven't heard anything
from anyone, including my roommate who is sched for the same
class date.

ok thanks

FOL= you are OK and have a firm class date. Nothing is official unless it comes straight from the horses mouth to you.

Im suppose to go to Chicago on August 14 for my PEPC. Is this going to effect it? I can not believe this!

You are going to your PEPC. They won't halt the entire process. The government works that way. At the beginning of every fiscal year the FAA is given x amount of money to do business. At the end of that year they sometimes run out. It doesn't mean they are going to stop hiring. They just overlap business into the next fiscal year which starts in Oct. It all runs off of budget. Not to mention classes fill up fast and OKC can't handle past capacity. Stop being a worry-wort and like I said before, it has to come from the horses mouth.

Yea that's what I figured. I wish people wouldn't post hearsay stuff here, especially people that decided it would be prudent to put in their two weeks w/out an FOL. I mean why would you ever do this? Even with my FOL, I still feel extremely uneasy lol.

If I did that and the FOL didn't come in my head would probably explode as well.

I wish everyone that got dicked over in thread good luck, but I still don't see how some could quit their jobs w.out a firm offer when the TOL clearly states not to quit until FOL is in hand. That's just kinda short-sighted.

I think people are so excited, and think things won't change, but they do. Good luck to you. Hopefully I will be there too around Aug 11. Supposed to get my FOL tomorrow. That is what I was told after about a combined 400 answered/unanswered calls to three different HR people in the past month. Thank God my facility is on that critically manned list! I really finagled my way into the Aug 11 date. That is what you have to do.

Right on, good luck you to my man.
Thing is, there is a large sense of entitlement of all of these posters. I waited the full two years, spent 5k on CTI school (after getting my B.S.) and I didn't have the luxury of a PEPC. I'm not sure of everones situation but people applying and getting to OKC in under 1 year off the street w/out any avi experience then complaining they have to wait until FY09. Gimme a break please.

But good luck to everyone, just work hard, but enough with the complaining already.

Not to hijack the thread, but, AFT, your avatar had me in TEARS.

ON the subject, I'll wait as long as I have to. I first applied for PUBNAT2, as soon as I knew the OTS positions existed. I know I've got a passion for this, and to me, it's worth waiting until October of NEXT year if that's the case. As long as I snag that FOL before June 9 of 2014 (my 31st birthday), I've got one of the best careers anyone could hope for in my sights.

I guess you could say it feels like you "paid your dues to get here". Those OTS will pay their dues, I guarantee it. Not to say they are bad, just little sheep getting ready to be thrown to the wolves. In a good way though.

I'm not saying they won't or haven't yet. All I'm saying is to put things in perspective and quit the whining. It's a bad habit and completely counterproductive.

I am a OTS applicant and I completely agree with your statement about the sense of entitlement from a lot of these posters. They somehow think that a government organization is like a small mom and pop shop giving out one job to only them and that the FAA HR shop is concerned about their personal life and how this process is inconveniencing them.

Somehow they don't remember applying for a nationwide job announcement that only requires some college or three years of work experience.

How are you people even getting in touch with your HR people. I've called David Traynor, Rene Dosela, and Amy Tracy multiple times last week and they never pick up their phones or return messages/emails...wtf?

I got lucky a whole bunch of times? Then I did a little bit of sweet talking, and offered to buy dinner. Except for the dude. I asked him if he wanted to have man sex.

Let me take one guess... 1) Off the hook 2) Ringer is turned off and straight to voicemail

Sorry... I know that was two, but I just thought of another option for what I could do so I actually get some work done.

It was mostly voicemail after four rings, but occasionally I would get the "the person at this extension is on the phone", then I would get the voicemail. I actually got in touch with the same person twice in the same day! It was pretty amazing.

With HR I accomplished all of my correspondences via email, I almost always got my answers the same day. Another added bonus is you have their responses in writing which may come in handy someday.

yeah, and any of us that have had to deal with the government before know that "in writting" is the all powerful phrase.

from my experience if you ask any person to put it in writting for you, they will either do one of two things. 1: "uhmm let me double check that for you", or 2: "uhmm, I am going to forward you to my boss, he/she knows more about the process....." :D
