Thicc boi club! 20-30lbs in a few months is lifechanging! Congrats to everyone who has had a positive impact with this, and thanks for sharing! I would never have considered this if I hadn't come across this thread. I know this isnt a miracle drug, Im not trying to look like the kardashians, I just want to get back to who I was, and then stay there.
I'm built like a bulldog but snore like a hippo. Hoping this will help me sleep better, be less uncomfortable, and get back to who I was not long ago.
I haven't woken up with a sore throat from snoring for six weeks so that's improved off the bat. I also wake up feeling like a million bucks, every day. But that's probably a combination of weight loss and vastly reduced alcohol consumption because I just don't desire it on the same level that I did. It tastes great but it doesn't trigger my pleasure receptors. It's a lot like having a coke. Half a glass is fine and then I'm tired of it compared to cracking a beer and immediately looking forward to the next because I feel like the king of the world.
The biggest hope is that this helps my motivation to get back on a bike and into the gym.
For me, yes. I wanted the GLP to give my body a 'reset' and I see results much faster. Plus Ive always enjoyed working out though.
But, when it's 3pm and the food noise kicks in louder than an AC/DC concert and theres a box of Extra Toasty Cheez-it's in front of you, the devil always wins. I like the idea of feeling full faster. I will sometimes eat like a dog until the stomach hurts, then I feel like a manatee. Put a pizza in front of me and I will just keep eating. It feels good to eat when you dont feel full. Until youre full...
My food noise is basically zero. But when I drank, I got snacky. Already digging in the fridge, might as well refresh that beer.
I made Posole Roja last weekend that's been in the fridge for almost a week, we still have pizza from last Friday and I basically have a month's supply of banana bread because they go old so quickly and a very small square and a espresso is like a satisfying indulgence but you do not psychologically feel like you're dieting because you're not. You just don't have the craving to eat in between meals and you feel satisfied faster.
Here's an example, I was out with friends for a "lazy lunch" a few weeks ago and I'm a motor-mouth during dinner. I got a tremendously delicious Pastrami sandwich and a beer, had a couple bites and told a story that went on for a little too long and realized that wasn't hungry anymore, felt full, and my beer had gotten warm. Not needing to wolf-down food to feed the beast gives you time to enjoy it and your body sends the "Bruv, we good, there's no place for this to go" far far earlier.
The key is that you can eat what you want, you just feel satisfied or naturally disinterested quicker.
On that note, did this consultation/ppwk with your AME require a new medical? Or was it just a consultation? I had my last medical in Sept.
Just a basic CACI form. I have the paperwork for the GLP but haven't had a medical since, but it's almost like the same form for my TRT/testosterone replacement therapy.
I also do that long-haul Europe stuff, has this made any impact on your body, mood, sleep, etc?
For me? Less fatigue, sleep better, better mood, only side effects are my usual "1600 and see a man about buying a horse" has become about 1900 when I'm at home.
I like coffee, does coffee/caffeine consumption get affected by this?
Coffee because I enjoy a cup with breakfast, but never because I need it to get started. Minimal/no desire for a cup in the middle of the office day on campus where I used to CHUG coffee to stay alert during the parade of never-ending "Dammit man, this could have been an email" meetings.
And the $25,000 question, did the weight loss happen so fast that you were left with flappy skin?
Nope! Work out, stay hydrated, stay on top of it. I'm petty and vain so I'm keeping an eyeball on that as well.
Tips: Get a blood glucose monitor and check it when you wake up and after a big meal, a Withings scale and a connected blood pressure monitor plus one of the apps like Shotsy or MeAgain. That way you can self-monitor your body changes with comparative charts and numerical data.
Like I had a heavy cardio week last week because it actually feels good to Peloton and brisk incline walk on the treadmill instead of watching YouTube on the couch and I had an above average weight loss that week so I scaled back this week and focused on weight training and less cardio.
Blood glucose rarely over 110 after even a relatively heavy meal, fasting is in the 70's, blood pressure is ridiculously awesome, I've gone down some sizes and even my uniform needs to be retailored but I'll wait until I'm at my target BMI and use the lifestyle changes to hopefully maintain that.
My only side affect has been how cold the pen feels against my belly before I push the button and almost like a "Bro DO YOU CROSSFIT" level of enthusiasm about the program. Seriously. But YMMV.
