Yup. I'm out as soon as I see the plant wall with neon 'Brunch Everyday' sign. I gave Dishoom a chance because Padma Lakshmi from Top Chef ate there on an episode and recommended it to someone on Twitter later on.
Oh god. The plastic ivy. "Oh, ok. So this place basically just exists to be on Instagram."

Speaking with one of my chef buddies at a culinary event last night, he’s gotten into restaurant consulting.

So one of his clients is pay high six figures to start a dumpling house that his daughter is going to ‘own’ and run on her own. Neither have any experience in hospitality, running a business or any expertise in Asian-style cuisine.

She’s aparently a TikTok/IG queen who is literally doing it for the social media buzz and the father has pretty much said “Yeah, it’s going to fail in a year”.

What in the actual…

To be fair....
I've been to a couple good places and were surprised they had one. Social media and the food scene is such a mixed bag. Pretty much every new restaurant I try is because I found out about it on Instagram, and most of them have been really good. But then you get the side that's "how big and ridiculous can we make something?!" and is stuff like places that dump a gallon of molten Nutella on pizza crust for... reasons?

Truth. And fully agree on the last part. If I see one more ad for some dudes truffle sauce where he glops half the bottle over a cheeseburger, it will be too soon.
 
Bangkok Station Thai in Atlanta. Flavorful, but literally devoid of any sort of heat. 3/10 would not recommend.

This is on you, You’re committing the same sins as those pilots you complain about going to Irish pubs in Korea, youre just doing it in reverse. You should be at a Waffle House in Atlanta, support local :)

I might enjoy the toast being just a bad bit darker but, damn, that looks good!

I'm sure it's the high-dose Prednisone that's driving my voracious appetite, but - damnit - now i'm going to go cook eggs and potato.

My eggs, however, will be soft-scrambled with peppers, onion, cheese and bacon folded in carefully over a low heat,- heaven on a fork.

What about going to the British pub in Bahrain? That place was great, never got sick, but also dont think i ever “ate” there

The original Ninfa’s in Houston. I was afraid it might be a tourist trap but it was actually pretty good Texmex. I prefer Mexmex but I figured when in Rome, as it were….

Man I looked at one of those when I was at the RV store buying a hitch. Some of the more-equipped were approaching a cool quarter mil. Not exactly IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER type of vibe.

They do fall off heavily with a couple years on them, so there’s that.
