Layover food

Breakfast for dinner in our case. 1st night of a 4 day. We stayed at the airport hotel in AUS and this was one of the few places still open past midnight.

I f**ing hate TX overnights. DFW/AUS all good if it has me landing by afternoon, but that whole stupid state shuts down at like 10. I don't remember it being that way when I lived there 15-16 years ago. God help you if you land at 2200, with a 20 hr layover, and just want to get dinner and a beer somewhere.

Bingo. We lay over downtown and even the hotel bar is wrapping it up by 2230. Forget walking outside to find another bar as your options downtown are 7/11 or 7/11.

Yup, same, in both places. It is ridiculous. Don't forget the 7/11 locks their beer by maybe 2300 or possibly 2200? I can't remember now, I have dropped those trips so fast.

Lunch at Como, Italy

Top Ramen cooked in the coffee maker, and a grilled cheese using some tin foil towels for a makeshift griddle. "You aren't cooking in your room are you?"..."Oh, no ma'am". One of my buddies would bring along one of those one burner electric stoves and make steaks, potatoes, pork chops, etc...This was like 20-years ago!

AUS. Camino el Camino on 6th St. Its not one of those cover charging/woo girls having party bars…but rather one of the divey-est dives I’ve been to in all the lands (in a good way). Lots of stuff hanging on the walls and old tvs playing horror and sci-fi movies from the 80s and 90s. They serve wings, hot dogs, cold beer, and the what-have-you until 1:30am. Short walk from the layover hotel.

Is this supposed to be an excuse?

:) Jk
That would really suck. I mean I'm not constantly eating shrimp, but there are shrimp products in a lot of delicious things

Truth. Especially in some Asian cooking. Like you'd never think there'd be salted baby shrimp in nappa cabbage Kimchi, but traditionally, yes.

I haven't figured out the sensitivity of my allergy. But I do know both times I have eaten shrimp I have gotten sick. But I do have to be careful over in Asia.
