Spirit Hiring

Any idea if the union is trying to get what Southwest got in their new contract in terms of pay?
I highly doubt it would be like SWA in terms of pay. That is a huge jump. I think the pay scale will come out close to what Alaska gets. Spirit does want to pay their Dispatchers more, which is certainly a good step in the right direction. Once the merger is complete and under one operating certificate with JetBlue, it will then be the 5th largest airline in the US and can then compete with the big 4 in terms of pay.

The only way I see Spirit matching WN is if JetBlue’s new contract does and the acquisition is approved in October. There’s no other reason I see them going from one of the lowest paying to the highest.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for B6 to match WN's pay-scale.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for any airline matching WN. That’s why the thought of Spirit matching them is pretty absurd.

There may be a jump for the DSCs and ATC coordinators as well. Hard to say how that would all pan out. It would be appealing to move up to those positions if the pay increases are there.

Spirit is highly unlikely to match. Talks are they want 3rd year pay to be starting pay at around 40 an hour. Expecting them to start 6 figures is a stretch, maybe in 10 years
Isn't third year pay around $37 now?
$40 would be an absolute insult, and wouldn't come close to even matching inflation since their last contract was signed. That sounds like a pay cut to me.

It's about 40 when include license pay and shift differentials

Not great still when you factor in COL in Orlando and Miramar

Hence why they are losing a lot of dispatchers to the majors

Any idea when the new occ will be completed and moved into in Dania beach? Also can someone at spirit PM I have a few questions. Thx u

I see on the spreadsheet that Spirit is listed as an hourly rate but the schedule is based on an 8 day rotation. Does this mean that the pay will fluctuate depending on how many shifts are scheduled in a pay period?

You work 4 on 4 off rotating days with 10 hr shifts, and it’s whatever the current rate is times 1825 hrs a year before taxes. It doesn’t fluctuate. Then you get a $125 license pay added per month as well.

So that essentially gets turned into a salary instead of hourly?

Pretty much except if you were to call out or take time off and you don’t have the sick or vacation to cover it, it gets deducted from your paycheck. But the base pay is hourly times 1825 hrs a year with bi-monthly payments on the 1st and 15th.
