Warms my heart that they put it on his solo shirt. That's the spirit.
Nobody should do their first solo in an SR-22. Or an SR-20 for that matter.
I recall the mighty metro being monocoque in design. You couldn't get the cargo door latch if the cargo wasn't positioned just right even with the plane being within CG because of the fuselage bow. An old freight trick was to rock the wings while someone else attempted to latch the door.
With that being said, I'm glad to see everything worked out ok.
The first solo aircraft was behind the Cirrus in the pattern, not the Cirrus.
Judging by the Metro pilot's voice, probably still firmly on the seat. Guy sounded cool as a cucumber smoking a Camel.
The freightdog sounded, as I believe was artfully suggested above, as cool as a cucumber smoking a camel.
I bet Keylime MEL's it.
...and the outgoing crew won’t read the MEL and the tail will fall off during taxi out.
outgoing crew
At least it will then be “the tail fell off”, as opposed to “the front fell off”
Honest question: if they were killed instantly, how did the chute deploy? Is there an auto deploy function?supposedlt they were killed instantly from the collision
The dude who felt it necessary to key up and report a bird, lulz

Yeah, I am willing to bet they didn’t lose the engine. Plus, with that sheet metal off the side, would make for a yawing force.Read this theory elsewhere: Did the RH engine fail? The Metro got slapped from right to left. Nose would yaw go right. And as @Boris Badenov pointed out, it’s not feathered.
