Happens a lot. I’ve not taught primary in one but @bucksmith has and I bet he has a good perspective on that.

I recall the mighty metro being monocoque in design. You couldn't get the cargo door latch if the cargo wasn't positioned just right even with the plane being within CG because of the fuselage bow. An old freight trick was to rock the wings while someone else attempted to latch the door.

With that being said, I'm glad to see everything worked out ok.

Better trick was positioning a ladder underneath the last pallet to angle it to where the door would close. Really confused the Mexican forklift drivers in Saltillo.

There's no auto deploy function. I guess the impact caused the chute rocked to fire.

Read this theory elsewhere: Did the RH engine fail? The Metro got slapped from right to left. Nose would yaw go right. And as @Boris Badenov pointed out, it’s not feathered.

Yeah, I am willing to bet they didn’t lose the engine. Plus, with that sheet metal off the side, would make for a yawing force.
