Skywest Questions

Speaking of uniform wear, I had a trip where the first day is a deadhead and the second day is the first flying leg.

The next morning in the hotel, I see the crew and I introduce myself. Another guy walks up in a Northface jacket and extends his hand and introduces himself.

I presumed he was a flight attendant.

Then he got upset with me because he's a pilot and not a flight attendant. Which is odd, who really cars and, well, pilots wear uniform coats when it's cold and the summer uniform when it's warm at my shop.

"Well, it's after March and I didn't think it would be cold, but it was so I have my civvy coat and at (former regional not Compass or Endeavor) no one cares"

Meanwhile, at no point in our pairing is it going to be over 30F.

A later over a beer I asked him "So you're upset with me because I thought you were a stew, but you want to transfer the uniform policy of your previous carrier to the new one? You're buying me the next beer, and get a hat in DTW" :)
 
Wearing a Northface at your place? Why didn't the political officer take care of that previously?

BTW, I wouldn't be caught dead in a Northface jacket at work.

I'm based in Detroit, it's cold! Besides, I think I saw one person in eight days of flying that wasn't wearing a uniform coat and he was "damn, I should have brought a coat" when he was getting out of the van.

Not that I care.

However, I generally wear it until the temperatures at least into the high 70's because, well, I don't like being cold! :) That's how most of us roll, maybe I'm out to lunch, but I keep stacking dat ched'.

Besides, "SeggyLogic" would mean being naked and simply throwing a bandolier over my shoulder.

Your MSP coworkers are about 60-40 right now, I would say. I can tell who's native and who isn't.
 
So I'm headed to SFO for my observation flights today. Any tips?

No seriously. How do I figure out the out and back flights? Are there any admin people I can speak with while I'm there? Just to say hi. Also ask about what flights are good/bad to choose. I noticed the crew lounge requires a SIDA badge? So no tour just yet?

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed because this side of the industry is so different. At least I know where the KCM checkpoint is....
 
I have a SkyWest question. I recently interviewed, I didn't get the job. All the online stuff I read seemed to be all geared toward the technical, so that is what I studied for. I nailed the technical portion to the wall and framed it. But the other, CRM and HR got the better of me. I thought I had CRM nailed because of the C-5, but no. I think I have a better handle on that now. The HR, I think I also have a better handle on that now, too because I am reading a book by a consulting firm. When can I reapply? Can I reapply? I want this.

Did they debrief you on the reasons why you weren't hired? Did you wear a suit?

When I interviewed last year one person wasn't selected, he was the person who did not have a suit or even a tie for his interview.

I believe you can wait six months for an interview. The HR questions are mostly to show what kind of character you have, interpersonal skills and humility if you have ever faced challenges and failed them. If you have anymore questions feel free to shoot me a PM and we can chat about the details if you'd like.

Get back on the horse and interview elsewhere, even if you don't want the job take the interview for practice providing you can afford the costs associated. That way when you re-interview with SkyWest you will have even more experience with the questions and layout of the process
